Unhappy Interested in a girl who is Redeemer Presbyterian...

And I'm Christian Agnostic... baptized Christian Orthodox, grew up Catholic. Since my Christian background/teachings were a bit all over the place, I have taken a more philosophical stance on my faith. Now I've been seeing a girl who is affiliated with the Redeemer Presbyterian Church and unfortunately I think she doesn't feel I am a real Christian - or at least I suspect that to be her belief. I admit it's a bit frustrating since I believe I am, but evidently I might not be enough for her.

Have any of you experienced anything similar? What are your thoughts?

Jay

Oh, everyone has. There will always be people who belittle your beliefs. Those who honestly think that you are wrong and not up to par with their absolute knowledge. If you don't think the relationship is meant to be uberserious, then just avoid the topic of beliefs. Or if it's really important to you, try having a serious discussion about it with her. And if it doesn't work out, it doesn't work out. You'll eventually find somebody who gets you. Maybe she does, and you just don't know it yet. It sounds like you haven't discussed it with her. Yeah, it's very early on in our "relationship." Right now I'm just trying to formulate my thoughts so I can go about it without belittling her own religious beliefs. When it comes to faith I believe everything is fair game. So idealistically there shouldn't be a problem but I must not come across rigid on my own belief in non-rigidity, so there's somewhat of a paradox here I ought to be wary of.

Thanks... and yes, girls like to talk

Yeah, I would just talk to her. If, after talking, she doesn't consider you a christian, so be it. Does that hurt anything? If you logically present your feelings, doubts, etc., maybe it will even enlighten her. You never know.

Just make it clear to her that you're not attacking her beliefs, and while you may not agree, you still accept her. If she gets offended after that she's just dumb.

Ya know just remind her that it's all the same God... all the same Heaven... all the same Hell. Just talk about the good stuff. God, Jesus, whatever you share. You probably won't see this but in case you do. I am an Agnostic and I wanted a JW. It was pretty brutal but we shared the feelings for each other. I didn't care what she believed in.

Yeah, I'm Agnostic, and my boyfriend was baptist. Dating me changed that though...
