Neither do I...I guess we will really find out when we all die, now won't we? We will find out the truth...The world is pessimistic.Evertyhing in this world is slowly falling apart...So yea both religions are pessimistic, but so is every other religion...because when you die you may go to hell and that aint optimistic. Or in some cases keep on ressurecting

=D lol in some ways it's almost funny that we worry about these kinda of things, instead of just living, don't ya think? I mean how much does the truth really matter? If people are happy in believing in god (or w/e) then it doesn't really matter if it's true or not, because in the end the only thing that really matters is if your happy. WELL that's what I think anyway. ^^ Dope! I think i totally rambled, oh well lol

that's a delightfully blissful way to look at life but sadly there are too many people out there that take advantage of people's beliefs.

Ask everyone involved in the Catholic priest scandals and ever other major religious scandal leading up to today. Ask everyone who can barely afford church donations but their pastor or preacher rides around in a Lexus and parks it at a huge house in the hills.

Religion is a powerful thing and it can also be dangerous alongside it's good qualities. Absolute power corrupts absolutely. And there is no greater power over people than the power to control what they believe in.

The other issue is that it hinders us as a society. Before you scoff hear me out... Religion is old school thinking incarnate. In order to truly believe in religion you have to believe that we don't control our own destiny. The evangelical religious keep us from making medical breakthroughs and have time and time again throughout history stood in the way of progress in the name of holding on to old beliefs. So it's not so ironic that older people in our society (the ones with all the money and power usually) cling to religion not only because it reflects what they are accustomed to in terms of their upbringing but they are also closer to death and need to cling to the hope that they will have life after death.

That's a good point! And i do think that it's true that people's beliefs supress technological and medical advances, strange to me how people can be so closed minded. However, What really bothers me is the way they (particularly christians) look at me if i happen to mention that i'm agnostic, it's like i can accept THEM for who they are, why can't they accept ME? How do you handle these kinds of situations?

Don't know, am agnostic about this subject.

RE: Meaning of life? I once heard a lecture by Alan Watts where he quoted Anton Van Leeuwenhoek ( The father of the microscope) regarding this subject as; "The mystery of life is not a problem to be solved but a reality to be experienced
