| Given the choice between turning on my television with children in my presence and having someone's head getting cut off or someone having sex on the screen, I'd rather there be sex. By the way, I'm not opposed to violence on television at all. In my opinion, nothing should be censored and parents should do a better job of telling their children how to differentiate between what they think is right or wrong.
However, I'm just making the point that it is very disconcerting that violence is more acceptable than sex in the U.S. |

| my opinion I have read (please don't ask me where because it was a long time ago) that breasts are one of the health indicators (men's health) that men use to judge a mate. Scientists have actually found a link to breast symmetry and the health of the female in the chest area (including breast health). Also, breasts indicate which female is more likely to mate (perky, full breasts typically, hence the male attraction to them).
An article in the Wall Street Journal states that men who visit strip clubs actually get over the initial shock of seeing all that flesh quickly, then turn to other devices (typically). I believe that the shock of seeing breasts on the street would pass just as the shock of seeing a girl in a bikini when it first came out passed.
If my wife is any indication, the bigger pairs are going to remain covered as they would probably get sore without support. Of course this would mean that girls would finally get to show there collection of "cute" bras. |

| ok, since it doesnt appear that any females have commented yet (perhaps because they figured it wouldnt be wise to touch this thread with a ten foot pole) ill voice my PERSONAL opinion on the matter. to me personally, sometimes yes, i would really like to be able to walk around without a shirt on, not to attract attention, but for comforts sake, however, if i was to be prudent about protecting my privacy and my bodies safety, i wouldnt be stupid enuf to walk around shirtless. i think that at a beach or ofcourse in your own yard, you should be allowed to tan butt naked if you so please. which i do, much to the chagrin of my local neighbors (no you may not have my address) but when it really comes down to it most people living in this country are from europe and the usa was founded on very conservitive christian values, this isnt west africa where its really hot and clothes would be a nuisance. this is north america and most women wouldnt degrade themselves enuf to walk around with their shirts off. it would be like meeting a guy at the bar for five minutes before taking him home. you degrade yourself and dont give yourself enuf credit. i purposely dress in non-skin tight clothes (mostly) and dont wear make-up cuz you know what, im more than a face. but anyway long story short, as much as im sure women would love to be comfortably able to walk around shirtless its not happening in this lifetime. you wanna see? join a nudist colony

| some females have replied to this thread but don't think it's necessary to debate the topic. there is no way modern guys would go around pant less ... too much penis envy to worry about, especially in the board rooms.
I can't see being intimidated or masochism by a CEO not packing .... well you know .... less than significant appendage to his colleagues would not get him respect .... close your eyes and think about it a minute .... never gonna happen in the corporate world!

| I think blanketly stating that not wearing clothes is a degradation of one's character is silly. Our society has built up appearances to such an insane degree that everyone has to not only be ashamed of the human body but has to indulge in insane amounts of "fashionable" clothing to be considered acceptable. **** character, I only care what you're wearing. |

| if that was meant for me, thats not what i meant, i personally have no problem with my body, im not super skinny i like eating and i have a healthy respect for myself. and thats what i meant by it would be degrading to walk around without a shirt, because then most men in all honesty, would stop viewing me as a person and start viewing just my breasts. and that would be degrading. iwho would you respect more, a porn star? or a sharp dressed business woman? dont know if that makes anymore sense or not..

| I don't want to go topless. In the cold my boobs would get goosbumps. And in the heat? Well they are big and they'd get sticky. Eww.

The problem is that it's even built into your psyche. You are comparing the respect that a porn star would get versus a business woman purely based on looks. Unfortunately the majority of people (and not just men, just to clear the air) would have similar conventions when it came to the appearance of people. While the result would be a gawk from a man (or woman, depending on sexual preference) or a sneer from a woman, both would view the human body as an aberration rather than beauty. The end result shouldn't matter.
Please don't simply berate men for this behavior. Women (in this society) would view the topless woman in question as nothing but breasts as well, though possibly in a different way. |
