Default Southwest mega-drought?

Take a look at this. If the predictions are correct, then the Southwestern states are in for an increasingly arid climate over the next 90 years. There are various problems involved including water scarcity and agricultural production.

Scientists predict Southwest mega-drought - Environment - MSNBC.com

Global warming is one of the top issues of today. I've heard various arguments from "Global warming is just a ploy to fund researchers" to "Global warming is a path to extinction." So, what do you think? Data is always good to bring to the discussion.

Hmm. I misspelled "drought" in the topic line. I wonder if that has anything to do with the absence of postings?

No one would like to comment on the article?

I really have no idea what to think about global warming. I heard in that last study that they found 'undeniable evidence' that global warming is real, and it makes a lot of sense if you think about it.

But then again, global warming has some of the most steadfast opposers of anything. I guess I just don't really know enough to have an educated opinion. Sorry.

actually Australia is worse off right now than we are ... kind of like our "dust bowl" era ... it is really bad there.

Yeah, but not really anyone lives there, do they? Isn't that like the most sparsely populated country on the planet or something? If not, it's gotta be close. Canada, maybe lol. Like, the whole thing is wilderness almost. I can't imagine many people live there.

actually it's effecting/affecting their economy, their fields are drying up, livestock is suffering and in some of the major cities they are considering recycling sewage .... it's that bad ... akin to what happened in Africa.

I believe we are going through a stage of Global Warming, yes. Is it anything to be afraid of? How should we know?

Personally, I know that what is going on right now is perfectly normal, the Earth has its hot and cool periods(Ice Ages) and we are due for a warm period, it is just Earth going through its phases, nothing more nothing less. Now, could we be contributing to it? Certainly, but I don't think this will be 'the end of Earth'. I believe we should take steps to rely on alternative fuel sources and other things like that regardless though, not because the world will end. We should take care of what we have, while we have it, bottom line.
