Default Is modern art too morbid?

The Art of Unhappiness | TIME

The author basically says that art nowadays is all about the morbid, depressed emotions and anything geared to make us happy is labelled pop. Agree, disagree? Is it a good thing or a bad thing?

Art is a reflection of it's people and how they view the world. Art hasn't been morbid enough in my opinion. The world in it's strive to control the individual mind instead of nature is assuring their own destruction. Art is that reflection.

Do you think it's fair to discard the artists who are 'pop' artists as not real art?

"Musicians" and singers? They are simply responding to the problem and accepting it as long as it can make them a buck. Real art... no even the dudes in the '80's were more realistic than most pop artists today.

I'd have to agree. With a few exceptions.

Noooo. I was just throwing that out there. There are musicians who are morbid in nature. They either have paint on their faces or are emo

True. Personally I would put Christina Aguilera miles above...Hawthorne Heights. As far as art goes. Actually, as far as anything goes.
