| I took a zoloft today so I wouldn't get angry and "pop the heads off kittens" ..... does that count? |

| I'm into melatonin and evening primrose oil. The combination totally prevents kitten head popping - so far anyway. |

| didn't help I tried melatonin it didn't help a bit .... I am extremely hyper and it's difficult for me to slow down at night .... 4am a lot of nights and I'm still awake. I use meditation tapes at night at sometimes they help ..... I sometimes long for the teenage years when I could sleep 10 hours straight!!!! Sometimes chamomille helps too .... nothing seems to slow me down except a head cold then all I want to do is sleep ... sorry reason to want and catch a cold! |

What if you don't slow down? What bad thing happens?
What if you're awake at 4am? Are you not able to function when you need to?
Do you like jigsaw puzzles?
My melatonin is kicking in... |

| Yep, tried Valerian ... didn't work. I am only 5'2 and of average weight, you would think that normal dosages of medications would work on me but they don't .... every doctor has been amazed by my "tolerance" to narcotics. Perhaps in my younger years I "developed" a tolerance from over useage??? I guess that answers your original post doesn't it?
Now I just take an Ambien, get 4 or 5 hours of sleep and then up and at 'em again. The only "bad thing" that happens is that after a while I get a little cranky from being "on" all the time. God forbid if I drink caffenine .. I ping off the walls .... Nah, I don't do puzzles but I devour books ... carry at least one with me at all times ... read at stop lights .... Sounds like it's nighty-nite for you ... sweet dreams.... |

| I don't think so ... I'm a nurse so I've tried thinking of all options ... all of my siblings are hyper .... they just self medicate themselves in other ways. Could be hormonal ... you know doc's don't like to dig that deep .... they just choose to throw pills at anything they can't figure out quickly. I've fasted before and still have the same symptoms .... A few years ago I got so ill that I couldn't eat without horrible abdominal pain .... a size 4 was hanging on me ... I know complaining about loosing weight gets me no sympathy with most women ... anyway there were only a couple of things I could keep down, my hair was falling out (at the time it was down to the middle of my back) ..... I went to all these different doc's .... same stuff ... can't find a thing .... nope nothing ... are you sure the pain is that bad ... are you just after pain pills .... totally jerked me around for 2 years ... I didn't have an orifice that they didn't invade. After a while I began to think .... hell maybe it is all in my head .... luckliy I worked for an internist that had seen these sudden "attacks" come on. I would be walking down the hall at work and BAM out of no where it would feel like someone punched me in the gut and I be on the floor crying in pain, I would go deathly white and drenched in sweat from the pain so he knew I wasn't B.S ing them ... he told the Gastro doc .... no one could figure it out .... well, I am quite the type A personality and refused to give up .... I found a female doc (the others were all male) and ask her to do a certain test and what do you know .... I figured it out, found a surgeon that was willing to believe in my theory .... he went in and fixed the problem and I haven't stopped eating since!!! I won't say what it was .... since there are guys that read this but it was something a woman MD didn't blow me off about like I was nuts ... I have little faith in male MD's for some illnesses. They lack the compassion/empathy of a female MD. I'll bet if it was my testicles (if I had them that is LOL) that were giving me problems they would have had me fixed in no time. After so many years of nursing I see how male MD's roll their eyes and stuff when they walk out of a room of a female patient. The young male MD's aren't as bad, after all many have been raised by single Mom's and have had to face the brave new word. I try to stay with wholistic medicine as much as possible but there are somethings that can't be replicated by Vitamins & Supplements. BUT the only reason of that is that the pharmacutical industry has a strangle hold on meds, that and the fact that supplements and vitamins are not FDA regulated so you can never be sure of what strength you are getting. There is a book out there by ... crap, can't remember her first name but the last name is Balch, her husband was a traditional MD who embraced herbal remedies ... she has written probably the most comprehensive book I've ever read on the subject. When I worked with HIV patients we actually used some supplements to boost immunities .... the problem is HIV meds are so damn toxic that it is difficult to figure it what will work for an individual. The good news on that front is that should someone turn up HIV positive today, they could still expect to live another 40 years, as long as they took care of themselves. Now the down side of that is that since HIV has become a managable disease and no long a short term death sentence ... many males in the gay community have this false sense that it can be managed and hey, what the hell 40 more years ... in 40 years, they'll have a cure is the mentality at times .... but surprise! There are 2 new strains of the virus out there (at least the last I read up on) they call them "wild viruses" and guess what ... they don't respond like the other strains. What they believe happened is that HIV + and other HIV + people got together and said what the hell we're both positive so we don't need to use protection .... now we have the "wild viruses" ... okay, I went way off topic on that but what can I say ... my fingers start moving and I can't seem to stop them .... Your son probably out grew those "allergies" when he got older right? My son is allergic to anything green .... he gags at the site of something green .... oh except pickles .... actually he's just a picky eater. He ate baby food until he was 5 years old ... I was going nuts thinking I was a lousy Mom, took him to a pediatrician ... her wise advice was .... when he goes to school and has Gerber packed in his lunch box .... peer pressure will stop that food aversion ... she was right. She said parents make too big a deal out of food issues and kids realize it's the only way they can control their parents .... sow if he doesn't eat what I fix for dinner .... he knows where the peanut butter is .... okay, I've rambeled on long enough ... chat later.
