Default What Forums Do You Belong To?

I ask this because I have a job that allows me lots of freetime to play on the internet. So, I end up visiting a variety of forums.

I'm curious about what forums others belong to...

Is this the main forum you post on or does another forum serve that purpose?

Do you belong to any other atheist/agnostic forums?

I belong to many forums, but I'll just give you the ones I visit somewhat regularly whether as a poster or lurker.

My main forum is Globalchatter which is a forum dedicated to the Jungian type INFP. I'm INFP and so that is where I hang out and relax with people who think similarly to me.

I sometimes post at MBTICentral which is another type forum, but where there is a variety of other types. Its alright and there are some of the same people there as at globalchatter.

I belong to a Jungian forum called Kaleidoscope that I've been posting at regularly and they have a forum about typology there also. I like it there, but its not super busy. The people there are very well read and intelligent. Several of them seem to be psychoanalysts and many of them have been studying Jung for a very very long time. The way people talk there confuses me sometimes... very prosaic and lots of run-on sentences.

I recently joined the Joseph Campbel Foundation forum where I just posted my first post the other day. I noticed some names there of people I already know on other forums and so that was a nice surprise. I've lurked there for some time and so I'm excited to get involved. Also, much deep thought going on there.

One of the people I recognized there is the same person I met at Acharya's astrotheology forum called Truthbeknown. Its a very slow forum, but I like the people and the ideas. Plus, Acharya posts there sometimes and so its nice interacting with a favorite author.

I belong to several integral forums. A really awesome forum called Lightmind will be closing down in a couple of days after a decade of existence. Two forums have spawned off of it. They're both on ning. One of the new ones is now going by the same name of Lightmind. The other is called Open Source Integral(OSI). They're both very new. I've only posted on the OSI one for the time being, but might end up posting on the other one too. I like the people at OSI.

I do belong to the Richard Dawkins forum and to the Internet Infidels, but having been posting there. They seem interesting, but for some reason I've been reluctant to post on them. As for agnostic/atheist forums, I like this one here. I like the more relaxed atmosphere around here, but maybe that is simply because there is a smaller group of members.

My posting goes in cycles. I was taking a break from my main forum Globalchatter for a while, but I'm now back posting there right now. This past week, I've been posting on this forum maybe more than the others... longer posts anyways.

It is important to keep my faith pure ... just this forum .....

Yeah I used to be on the religious discussion boards on The History Channel website all the time. It got way too weird for a while and I haven't been back in a while.. maybe a couple years now...? It would be great to hear if any of you used to post over there though!

I know a guy going by the name Niki on the globalchatter forum I belong to. I believe he said that he posts or used to post there, but I don't know what name he went by there. I visited the forum a few times... maybe because he had pointed it out.

It seemed decent, but not great. If I remember correctly, there were a lot of literalist Christians there. It sorta makes sense that a historical forum would attract Christians seeking to prove their beliefs are based in historical fact.

I don't know - During a lot of the time I spent there it was a great mix....

Of the senior members there was a pretty even mix of native americans, religious-hating atheists, buddhists, jews, liberal non-denominational Christians on one side and fundies of the mormon, 7th day adventist, catholic, muslim, and bapstist varieties on the other (like that synopsis? lol). A lot of decent middle of the road people too.
It kinda worked out and there were more than enough decent people on there. I think there were even little cliques that kind of developed over time.

It actually went negative when I realized I had fallen into a "clique" myself and it contained at least one total narcissistic obsessive psycho. I think it's a large part of why I got turned off of spirituality altogether. I was having a good old time getting into all of this positive new-agey spirtuality stuff, and I even started thinking maybe I was a pantheist, but that whole experience put a bad taste in my mouth and from what I've seen and heard, including from you, it sounds like the boards just got more and more overrun with fundies. It was really awesome at one time though!- I will say that.

You should ask niki what his name was on the boards. It would be funny it's someone I knew. Anyhoo, nice meeting you!

My regular Internet stops include rantsnraves.org, interfaithforums.com, richarddawkins.net and wrongplanet.net; but exchristian.net is where I spend the bulk of my posting time.

(Except in November, that is... Then the best place to find me is the Manitoba section of the forums at nanowrimo.org because I'm busy writing Yet Another Novel. )
