Sixty going on 61. Retired after 31 years, but consulting part-time. Married for the second time. Father of three, stepfather of one. Grandfather of 6 (8 next August if things go according to plan). Volunteering as a court-appointed special advocate for abused and neglected children and loving it. Becoming more realistic about expectations but still able to enjoy simple material pleasures like 130 mph in my Z on an open highway last night. Lover of jazz, traveler, reader, experimenter. Student of my experience but hopefully not bound by it.

My, how cynical.
Don't worry so much about what is written in the bible, it's all open to all kinds of interpretation. If you are interpreting it to mean "the end of the world is near", all you need to do is re-interpret what it says to a more positive message.

I'm not religious, but I'm sure if you ask God, he'll tell you everything is OK. If that's not what He says, it might not be God but the devil trying to trick you :-)

I'm single, from Iowa, graduate student studying abroad, computer scientist.
Raised in a minority religion family (muslim) but consider myself agnostic. My specialty is artificial intelligence. You could say I am agnostic because of my desire to know all about the mind.

What part of Iowa do you hail from?

And where abroad are you now?

As in 350Z. Unless I'm mistaken, a Z28 is a Camaro, i.e. Chevrolet model, which is, by definition, made in America by GM. If you take a new American-made car to a Nissan or Toyota mechanic, he'll automatically assume it's got at least 5 years' wear on it. That's how they come of the assembly line.

If only American auto makers had listened to W. Edwards Deming before he got too busy teaching the Japanese how to beat them at their own game.

I'm from Cedar Falls (next to Waterloo). Its a really nice town, about 30,000 people, not too big but not too small.

Right now, I am in Tokyo, learning Japanese and getting a masters degree all at the same time. A city with almost 10 million people is a big change, but I am loving every minute of it.

Just the idea of 10 million people makes me feel claustrophobic.

I'm new to the forum. In fact to be honest until my dad visited for Christmas and asked me what I was doing reading the Koran when I come from a family of Christians i had no idea what an Agnostic was. It's the best description I have heard yet to fit my perspective of life.

I am currently living in Illinois at Scott Air Force Base, yes I'm in the Air Force.
I have two sons and a beautiful wife. She and I are 28 and met at a Christian college. We have had some interesting times the last few years as I redefine my view of the the world. She came from a much more fundamental background than I did and until she met me never had a philosophical conversation (at least not one she wanted to pursue). She has stuck by me regardless and I have done the same and we cherish each other more each day as a result. She is even starting to enjoy non traditional conversations to my surprise and enjoyment.

I am 23 (was about to write 21 lol). I am single with no kids. I am in full time study, studying for a Bsc in Computer Science with Games Technology.

In 20 years time i hope to own my own business. Recently started seriously thinking about helping out at homeless shelters and the likes, trying to do my bit for the less fortunate. I found it easy to say i want to do this and that, but now is the time to back it up.

Became an agnostics couple weeks ago, i was a Sikh before that. I however have not taken Amrit (baptism), hence why i don't wear a turban, wear the kirpan, not a vegetarian, etc..
