Default Global Warming...The Bigger Picture?

Ok, so we all know Earth is suffering from global warming, the ice caps are melting, there is an increasing amount of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere, were all going to die and the earth will be destroyed.

This seems like a catastrophe.

BUT...

Scientists believe that the Earth was once extremely hot, with little water, a vast percentage of the atmosphere was made up of carbon dioxide and there were very few forms of life.

Is it just me or are there some similarities there...

Just speculating here, but lets say scientists are correct and the Earth was like that millions of years ago...wouldnt Earth just be going round in a cycle?? Is it not returning to the state it used to be in millions of years ago?

If so this opens up a world of possibilities...a new human race a few million years down the line...or a different form of life altogether...and maybe what we know now wasnt actually the first life...maybe this has happened before, there was life on Earth and all evidence of it was wiped clean by "global warming" (for want of a better term), maybe this is a recurring thing?

...or maybe Im clinically insane...whos knows...

Im no expert in science, and for all i know what ive just said could be completly impossible, but maybe it is possible...

thoughts please??...even if its just to agree with the me-being-insane comment...

I have no reason to doubt the evidence about global warming however I believe it is too late to do anything and no political party will force their country to go carbon neutral because it will destroy their economy. People will leave it until it is too late and then there will be regrets. I can't see the situation going any other way.

I have seen the arguement that you have mentioned put forward quite a few times. It may well be true, perhaps it is a combination of both, but I'm not a scientist with any knowledge of this issue. It seems a vast majority of the world's scientists agree with the CO2 theory. I actually don't think the scentists can be certain though. Most of the time scientists can only observe rather than explain.

I agree with you, however I think it is already too late. We have set into a motion something that cannot be reversed...but then again, maybe its all part of a cycle and we just sped it up a bit?

Its pretty impossible to say. Not even scientists (the people who should know) can agree on this.

By the way nice signiture, but I don't agree with your avatar. Religion has shaped the world we live in today. Perhaps we would not be using computers today if religion did not exist, perhaps America would not be populated like it is currently.

The signiture was a quote I picked up, but I cant remember who its by.
The avatar...I see where youre coming from, and in some ways I agree, to certain extent. What Im trying to voice with that avatar is that religion makes people behave irrationally, and often dangerously. Many wars have been faught and many people have died and been killed in religious differences. The message I am trying to get across is that without religion the world would be a safer place. Religion is important in the "adolescent" stage of life to help learn right from wrong, but to really mature we need to lose it
