Regular exercise.
Jogging every day really helped me out. I also went to the free counciling services at my university. They recommended more advanced treatment, but then I moved to Japan, and just being in a new place was so exciting, I forgot all about being depressed. And I haven't had any problems since then. But that's probably not helpful to you.
Anyway, at the very least I would suggest some daily 30 minutes of jogging, and some easy weight-training is also nice. Changing to a healthier diet is helpful, avoiding alcohol, etc.
Also remember, I am NOT an expert, so don't listen to just my advice.
