| DaVinci Code I haven't found this thread here yet and I hope it is in the right category but have any of you read The DaVinci Code by Dan Brown ? I read it a month ago and I am still thinking about it. This whole thing about the Holy Grail and what it is supposed to be is quite interesting.
Have any of you read it ?
And at the moment I am reading Angels and Demons also by Dan Brown also about the Vatican and religion but much more fictional although there are interesting facts.
Anyone read that one ? |

| I've read both books - and his two other books as well, which are very entertaining but don't have as much of a religious bent to them. I very much enjoyed both the Di Vinci Code and Angels & Demons - haven't done much research into the validity of the theories he based he books on - but it's a great read and does make you think.

Anyone read that one ? | ive read part of it. one must take into account that it is fiction, though. apperantly there is a cult based on it. a cult, based on a book of fiction. it'd be funny if it werent so sad.

I as an English major see the Bible as apocalyptic literature. |

DaVinci Code is actually creative nonfiction, meaning it is based on certain truths (facts)and the story line is fake: like Titanic. There is a vast amount of truth in the book, but the characters are fake. Ya know what I mean? |

| The truths the book is based on aren't valid though. Somewhere in the gnostic gospels, which were written in the 2nd century, it said "jesus kissed mary magdalene on the *damaged symbol* blah blah". now, IF it said lips, that would mean they MIGHT have been married which MIGHT mean they had a kid... so many huge stretches... sex inside of marriage isn't a sin in the first place. ill write a more in-depth comment later if you guys want me to but i gotta get to bed for now.

| Angels & Demons is great. I finished it last night. If you like the Da Vinci Code then you will also like this book!! It is again with Robert Langdon and about a murderd man with a symbol on his chest and again about the Vatican and religion but still a whole different story and that is why it's so great

| The Davinci code was a good book, riveting and entertaining. I'm still mystified as to why everyone freaked out about it. |
