I thought dawkins' response was shallow and basically an acceptance of Tyson's rebuke. Tyson is an educator and is doing a lot more for the cause of science than dawkins is by his work at the hayden planetarium and on nova science now.

Dawkins accepts that he doesn't reach individuals whom he attacks in his book (i.e. theists). He basically says that he is just preaching to the choir.

I, myself, am a science educator and feel that dawkins does not contribute much at all. I thought tyson was dead on and that dawkins' reply was empty.

I don't think that in "The God Delusion" Dawkins attacks anyone. He's just opening eyes of those who think that atheism is evil and that's it. There's hardly a chance of winnig a convert, but he could at least succeed in changing attitude towards atheists in USA where we see total loathing of atheism, especially at political scene.
