| Bong Hits 4 Jesus So, I'm sure everyone's heard about this case. Just curious? Do you think the first amendment protects the right to stand outside a school with a banner saying "Bong Hits 4 Jesus" to get on TV?

| I used to think it was pretty cut and dry myself. Freedom of speech and all...
But you have to be careful with it when what you are saying could potentially harm or severely offend another group.
For example, how would we feel about a group of people standing out in front of a southern black church chanting racial slurs and constantly using the N word. People do it all the time, they're called KKK rallies. But sometimes they take it a bit too far and the police break the gatherings up either because they are inciting too much civil unrest or are infringing on the rights of passers by to go about their lives peacefully. There are so many federal laws and even city ordanances that eat away at the first amendment it's really tough to even say just how much it applies any more.

| The first amendment is the freedom of speech. There's always arguments on how liberally that should be viewed.

| How about if your freedom of speech is that you can stand with what ever your sign says but not with in a 100 yards of anyone else .... so a lone kkk'er or someone of their ilk could have free speech but it would be in the middle of a corn field ... kind of "if an idiot stands in a corn field with a sign and there is no one there to read it ... will anyone be offended"?? I crack myself up
I don't need to go outside and play ... I have enough imaginary friends to keep me busy inside all day long .... lalalalalala

| Yes bong hits for Jesus is a great way for the Christians to get the upper hand. Look at debdodds statement and wonder if drugs are good for you or not. <winks>

| Hahaha, exactly. I agree with the whole, freedom of speech is fine until you're truly offending (like, the entire mass, not just one extremeist) someone or harming/threatening them. So...Bong Hits 4 Jesus....I can see it shaking up some sensibilities, but I think everyone should know it's not serious. Especially since it's held up by little kids. Well, kids. And besides, who's to say Jesus didn't ever escape with a little somethin somethin. Life back then sucked, man. Peace

| You know the great thing about being an agnostic... anything and everything that might possibly be of value does not have to be dismissed. Everything is under intense scrutiny... it's a liberation because everything can be objectively scrutinized.
Oh my... debdodd got here before me!
