Default Bush seeks $100 billion for Iraq in 2007

http://today.reuters.com/news/articl...ET.xml&src=rss

Quote:
WASHINGTON (Reuters) - President George W. Bush will ask Congress for $99.7 billion for the Iraq and Afghanistan wars for rest of fiscal year 2007 and more than $145 billion for fiscal year 2008, a Bush administration official said on Friday.
Money well spent or futility incarnate?

Me I can think of quite a few things that money should have gone to, all involving our national security. One would probably have been homeland security trainign for local police of major cities. Someone needs to help the Light-Bright police

Wasted money of course. Without a doubt, nothing will be resolved but our soldiers will be more battle savvy for the next conflict. Unfortunately so will Al Quaeda. Nothing but more movies for Hollywood to make and new deals to be made. I guess if you look on the positive side while the Arabs build their nuclear bombs they will have a more efficient energy source to exploit?
Bush is trying to pull another Iraq... convinced Iran is supplying Iraq Ieds then his General comes out and says there is no proof. Now I think everyone knows that Iran is doing it but what did Bush expect when he invaded the stupid ****ing country in the first place?

Casting aside for a moment the moral, ethical and political questions raised by a continuing campaign in Iraq/Afghanistan I don't believe for a moment that there isn't monetary value in this course of action. To the tune of a $100 billion though? It seems far fetched, but securing oil lines would be a long term strategy and the ROI would mirror that.

Having seen what New Orleans still looks like, one year on from Katrina, im inclined to think that Bush would be better served using the money fixing up his own house before he looks elsewhere.

Off topic, but I've not been here in a while; it's nice to see the forum has grown nicely in my absence

I dunno George might be loosing it a little allowing people like me to become a Mod... teasin George.

I don't mind Afghanistan... Iraq was pure blunder.

I agree with you about the Katrina/New Orleans thing. I don't think Bush has an ounce of respect for the American people. He is a corporate stooge that wants his place in the History books.
