| Nope. Unfounded belief need not follow. That's the glorious difference between this non-dogmatic approach and the dogmatic religious approach.

| Vernor Vinge, a well respected writer on the subject predicts a "technological singularity" will occur at some point between now and 2030. He writes about computers etc. getting more intelligent than us pretty shortly - there is lots of speculation that this might lead to the end of humanity. Re: films like the Terminator series where computers get cleverer than us then try to wipe us out. Many writers think this isn't as far-fetched as it might sound. It's a bit blooming frightening.

But seriously, the earth has been here a heckuva long time. I believe it will continue to be here for a heckuva even longer time.

| I'm reasonably confident that humanity will not succeed in wiping itself out completely.
And even more confident that a good selection of plant and animal life will survive as well.
Now, knowledge and technology, on the other hand... It's all too easy to slip into a dark age. Where is Hari Seldon when we need him? |
