| Is the world controlled by 6,000 people? I came across this on a site by "The Meritocracy Party":
"(Source: Superclass: The Global Power Elite and the World They Are Making by David Rothkopf.)
1. The world is controlled by a global elite of approximately 6,000 people.
2. 94% of them are men, and their average age is 60.
3. 2% of the world's population own 50% of the world's wealth.
4. 1,100 billionaires have double the assets of the poorest 2.5 billion people.
5. The world's 50 largest financial institutions control a third of the world's assets.
6. The world's 250 biggest companies generate sales of about a third of the world's GDP.
Very few of this super-rich elite are elected. Many have attended well-known schools, colleges and universities. Many belong to well-known clubs and societies. Many inherited great wealth and many just happened to be present when great assets became available (as in the case of the 36 Russian oligarchs). Many have strong family and religious links. Many are close friends. They control practically everything worth controlling. They don't listen to us, and they don't care about us. Are we just going to stand by and do nothing as though we were peasants bowing to feudal kings? Or are we prepared to stand up to the elite and take what is ours? It's time to replace the system that oppresses us. Democracy gave birth to this global elite, and is their main instrument of political control of the masses. Meritocracy, the antidote to democracy, will eliminate nepotism and cronyism. It's time to change the world we live in. It's time for meritocracy."
Do these meritocracy people have a point? |

| Hmm, i posted a link on the fair tax thread about some statistics like that. Obviously, nothings fair, but I think a few changes would be nice.
Pardon my ignorance, but what exactly is Meritocracy, and why would it be a better form of government? There really isn't any forms that i can think of that dont have their downfall, whether it's big or small. I've just always thought Democracy came pretty close to being "fair".

| The world is actually controlled by about 100 people, but they can raise an army of millions to convince you of their power.
Wealth can buy anything in this world. Including control over a planet.

| Is there ANYPLACE on this planet that has a WORKING Meritocracy? If so, where and for how long has it been in existence? How does it differ from the Republic form of govt. that we have now in America. Since the U.S. is a Republic form of govt. and NOT a Democracy. Just FYI. |

| There can and never will be a form of government that doesn't diminish one's liberty to a certain extent. Anarchy is the only political philosophy which would allow every individual equal liberty. Of course it is rare to meet people who truly wish to give their fellow human beings such a thing. Everyone I meet has a little Totalitarianism in them. |

| ive heard of such remarks... they're a secret society called the illumanati or the free masons, if you haven't heard of them i'd do some reasearch on jordan maxwell or micheal tsarion, they have devoted their lives to exposing them and waking the american people up... these people might not have as much money as you said, but they do control the banking system (federal reserve) which basically controls the country and is not limited by the government.. Rockafeller, Morgan, and basically every american president since jackson has had some connection to this secret society... look at the back of a one dollar bill and tell me what you see, a pryamid maybe, with the all seeing eye on yop.. Do you know what "Annuit Cueptis" means? or even what "Novus Ordo Seclorum" means? if you don't i would recommend doing some homework on this issue casue i feel it is imperitive in the understanding of how these people work...
O yea, Al Gore is very much apart of this group and this whole global warming is a hoax to force the american people into their adgenda by "saving the world"
PROVE ME WRONG
