What did the Bush administration do Duck? The way I see it, he's doing his JOB. He swore to uphold the Constitution and defend the U.S. from enemies, foreign and domestic.
We didn't start this war. But we're damn sure gonna finish it. I say, WHATEVER & HOWEVER long it takes. Terrorists aren't gonna ask if you're a Christian before they cut your head off. They don't care!!! When will you LIBERALS get that through your thick skulls?
If there's an atheist or whatever in the foxhole next to me, I wouldn't care. As long as he'll fight to protect me as I would him. If the person's capable to watch my back, I don't care which way they see their world. It's not up to us to judge anyone. God will do that. (Sorry for the Christian interjection). But, that's the way I was tought. I'm SURE most non-believers are cool folks. Some may be zealots... but so are there some zealots within the different faiths. We need to be more tolerent on both sides. I just don't like it when someone crashes down on my faith. Just as I'm sure others don't like being
hassled about their choice of faith or non faith.
But that is just it, he has not upheld the constitution. Our civil liberties have never been at such a low tide as right now. The Patriot act has taken so many things away from us. The formation of Homeland Security has created a Fascist police force the likes of which none ever foresaw in this country. Our government is now responsible for the greatest human rights violations in our history! Guantanamo, torture, etc.

There was absolutely no justification and totally false pretenses for the war in Iraq. This is the most dishonorable time in our history.

BTW. I am no liberal. I am a true Libertarian. There is a huge difference. We need a whole lot less government in this nation.

I agree Duck. We do need a whole lot LESS govt. The current admin. has made some mistakes. TRUE. But, in the same sense, we haven't been attacked since. Is that due to the Patriot Act or Homeland Security? I don't know one way or the other.
As for gitmo and the other stuff. I think that's the liberal media playing up to the hate Bush crowd. Which you must admit they've done ever since he took office. Seems nothing he does is right in their eyes. I wonder how they're gonna treat the next president. Don't you? Talk about liberal media bias.
The guy gets blamed for EVERYTHING. Even such rediculous assurtions as him causing hurricane Katrina. Give me a break. If anything, the Dem. mayor of N.O. is more responsible than anyone for not doing something before it hit about the levees down there and the horrible livings conditions that existed long before Bush came into office. Yet the libs always try to find a way to wheedle out of it and twist things around. And you the public, just eat it up. Just because of your hatred for Bush. Grow up people. The president is not all THAT powerful. Sure, he can submit things. But then they have to be voted on. You all got your Dem. majority and still there's nothing getting accomplished. Now,.. who's falt is it? The congress has an even lower approval rating than Bush. What's up with that? I guess that's Bush's fault too, huh? You better wake up liberals and get a clue.

Deb,

Why do you always ASSUME I'm wanting to start a fight with you? I NEVER mentioned you specifically were a liberal. By the way, Thank You for your service to our country. You seem SO ANGRY towards me. Why is that? Is it because I hold opposing views to yours? I think maybe so. I have no doubt that you may see yourself as a patriot to some degree. You have a different way of getting to it than I do.
I'll agree, some of those kids serving now went in for an education. But in doing so, they also have the knowledge that they might have to fight also. As in the case of the Marine Corps, EVERYONE is a rifleman first. Regardless of what their MOS might say,..ie... cook, clerk, etc. If called upon, you will have to go to war. That's all I was saying.
And as far as volunteering. You don't know me either. I am a member of the Marine Corps League. We do alot of volunteer work. You are assuming just as you thought I was. OK? OK. Try a little patience.

Firstly ... I did not mention America .... I specifically used the word 'we'.
Even Latvians contributed to the gulags and the death camps.

But explain to me the difference between Hiroshima and Nagasaki, and the Twin Towers in terms of suffering of civilians. .... The word I used was 'remember'.

jeez buzz I haven't the faintest clue why I would think you want to spare with me ..
I NEVER mentioned you specifically were a liberal. By the way,

Not by name but when my name is at the top of the post then one can only believe that the person it was the intended to annoy was the person it was addressed to

Thank You for your service to our country. Your welcome ... I did it with a glad heart .... I even worked at a VA hospital after I got out

You seem SO ANGRY towards me. Duh!

Why is that? Is it because I hold opposing views to yours? Nope b/c you keep telling us we are going to hell

I think maybe so. Hardly! why would I care what you believe? I just don't think you should assume that hell is my destination ... I believe it presumptuous that you think Muslims, Jews and all the rest are going to hell b/c they don't believe in Jesus .... you ever heard of the saying there is more than one road that leads to "Chicago"?

I have no doubt that you may see yourself as a patriot to some degree. To a degree? Your kind is the reason so many people around the world hate us!

You have a different way of getting to it than I do. Yes, it's called Peace, Love and Brotherhood ... the survival of mankind .....

I started off as a combat medic and was in the first graduating class of women and men in coeducational basic training so let it rest on the patriotic rhetoric when you talk to me .....

And as far as volunteering. You don't know me either. I am a member of the Marine Corps League. Whoop-de-friggin-do!We do a lot of volunteer work. You are assuming just as you thought I was. OK? OK. Try a little patience.
You try having tolerance and I will try the patience thing .... do we have an accord?

Sorry for not picking up on the liguistic nuance using the global "we". I get what you are saying.

I would prefer to compare WTC to Pearl Harbor. The comparison works better for analysis.

Hiroshima and Nagasaki are unfortunate casualties of unfettered war. We developed a better bomb to end the war. We used it. Since too many of my family was serving in the Pacific Theater during that war, I refuse to condemn the use of atomic weapons to end that war.

Getting back on topic. I truly wonder about the veracity of this soldier's experience. Not real sure just what the story here is.
