I do agree with your earlier post that things seem to be going down the toilet in the US.
I have to say that this will be the toughest election I have ever voted in.
Something has gotta give and the only thing I can see "giving" is the back of the middle class.

We should honour our veterans for sacrificing and being willing to sacrifice their lives. So that we can maintain the liberties gained by poets, lawyers, politicians and the like.
There's a huge BUT
We should remember Hiroshima and Nagasaki, we should keep the fireball of Dresden in our eyes, we should feel shame of Belsen, Dacau and Auswich, we should remember the gulags. We should remember death on a railway in Burma.
We should honour all veterans ... victors and vanquished ... for they are one and the same.
War is not pretty.

| for me, one of the saddest part of this war is how many young kids join up ... getting into the human lottery of they either get killed/injured or they get some money for an education afterwards .... then they still cannot be sure of getting a job.
getting out of this war is an ugly business .... all of this death over a God who allegedly wants us to love one another ....

We didn't start this war. But we're damn sure gonna finish it. I say, WHATEVER & HOWEVER long it takes. Terrorists aren't gonna ask if you're a Christian before they cut your head off. They don't care!!! When will you LIBERALS get that through your thick skulls?
If there's an atheist or whatever in the foxhole next to me, I wouldn't care. As long as he'll fight to protect me as I would him. If the person's capable to watch my back, I don't care which way they see their world. It's not up to us to judge anyone. God will do that. (Sorry for the Christian interjection). But, that's the way I was tought. I'm SURE most non-believers are cool folks. Some may be zealots... but so are there some zealots within the different faiths. We need to be more tolerent on both sides. I just don't like it when someone crashes down on my faith. Just as I'm sure others don't like being
hassled about their choice of faith or non faith. |

getting out of this war is an ugly business .... all of this death over a God who allegedly wants us to love one another .... | Hey Deb,
It's a war against the islamofascists who are bent on making EVERYONE submit to islam. You enjoy your freedom to express yourself, of religion, or non-religion? Well, under their laws you have none of that. Which do you want? Because they're not gonna stop. We need to fight them over there so we don't have to fight them here.
Alot of those kids joined simply because they love this country and the freedom it affords us all. As I did almost 30 years ago. I signed up for a combat arms job. I wanted to go fight. After what the Iranians did to our embassy. I'd go today if they'd let me. I value our freedom.
There are some today who are joining up to get some college, but no one goes in blindly. They're told up front that they may have to go fight. Yet they still go. It's an all volunteer military. No one can say they didn't know they have to go to war. |
