Indeed, but you can attack civilians as collateral damage, as it happened with Buttho recently on Pakistan, they killed civilians because they had no choice to get the target but by killing them, on the other hand you have several attacks aiming civilians with no main target at all, such as WTC, 11 Madrid, those daily bombs on Baghdad... and so on.

Besides I'm focus on terrorist groups still active, I really don't care and it doesn't help on nothing but to return to your some sort of apologetic, for the inactive groups from the past.

For me, it all goes back to the old adage (whose author I can't recall) that said something like "Walk a mile in my moccasins." Have you seriously considered why a large number of "terrorists" are willing to end their lives for their causes? You may say that such a decision is easy if your religion assures you of a heaven with 70 virgins, but I don't recall any Christians willing to end their lives because their religion assures them of pearly gates and streets of gold. Bottom line is that, with the exception of individuals who are certifiably insane, giving up one's life for one's cause is an act of complete desperation, and warrants some serious analysis.

So, just for a moment, walk a mile in the moccasins of an individual in the Middle East who sees his or her country and countrymen being raped and pillaged by Western powers driven by nothing but greed and a lust for power. Think back, if you go back that far, to the race riots in American in 1968. It was mystifying to me that African Americans, as citizens of the nation considered to be pre-eminent in terms of civil rights and individual opportunity, were burning and looting the property of the few among them who had found some measure of economic success. I couldn't understand it until I symbolically put on their moccasins and walked a mile or two.

And what I found, when I'd done that, was an abject failure of the American political system to walk the talk of civil liberties and opportunities it had outwardly espoused. Instead of empowering the majority of its people, it empowered the 1% to 2% of its wealthiest citizens who could afford to fund its perpetuation. And, some 40 years later, nothing has changed.

As long as the U.S., as the world's only super-power, continues to exploit the poorest of third-world countries and their people for its own greedy aggrandizement, it can expect nothing more than desperate acts by desperate people.

A couple of comments have been made about Islamic terrorists attacking 'their own' in market places. I don't believe this is actually the case. I'm definitely no expert but I believe that Iraq (for example) is split into predominantly Shia, Sunni and possibly a number of other different sects(?). The main struggle is actually between the Sunni and Shia sects, and because each group stick together in certain parts of cities and in certain parts of the country, by bombing a marketplace they are in fact pretty certain that they will be killing predominantly people from the opposite sect (and a few western soldiers).

Danlo,

I used to believe on that logic also, until the Shia faction strike on Kerbala, which was as logical as a Catholic faction to bomb Vatican.
So... I now just think they're crazy!

I gave them a bit discount since it would be impossible to face their invaders directly, I don't see those organizations to have any chance against the US Army or the Israeli army, so they could be just fighting as they can.

But they proven to be simply crazy, is just violence for violence...
