We don't buy Presidential votes. I assume you mean our candidates invest so much money in buying votes, but what does that have to do with "what a weird bunch"
we are? What our candidates do isn't our fault.

Are we doing something wrong in the UK and Australia, in spending little money to elect a Political Party who will then decide who the Prime Minister is?
|
I don't think so. Whoever accused you of doing something wrong? I actually admire your system for providing a means of removing the prime minister whenever he/she grows unpopular, instead of having to wait for the next election like we do.

Surely. (don't call me Shirley} your system is a proven failure, by the performance of your past Presidents.

What makes you think anyone will call you Shirley? What does the performance of the people selected by the system have to do with weather the system itself is a failure? I'm not angered by your criticisms of our system (especially since I see some major flaws in it too) but I'm curious as to why you think leaders chosen by a parliamentary system will automatically have better policies than those chosen by a presidential system.

May I suggest that you do not have such a model Democracy, that you would have the rest of the world believe.
|
Anyone who suggested that our system is a
model democracy would have to either be not thinking about it very deeply or have a very loose definition of what makes a model democracy. I get the impression, however, that you haven't actually heard from
us, only from our politicians. When they brag about what a great democracy we are, they probably mean we are blessed to have so much freedom (press independent of government control, no executions for publicly criticizing our government, etc.).

What sort of Democracy is it that has an individual spit the Dummy, if he, she, decides that they don't like the umpire's decision, walks of with bat and ball and decides to veto a suggestion that they do not like.

Please explain what you mean by this. I have no clue what you're talking about.
