Nah nah nah you're not gettin off that easy. Regardless of the futility the democrats of today love to display, a mere majority won't change anything. "Enough Americans" is different from a "majority of voters," like if say....70-75% of the public or more got behind an idea, it would in the very least, get the public spotlight enough for politicians to either get behind the idea, or risk getting voted out of office next term. A slim majority hardly gets you anywhere these days. If 55% of the US has gotten bored with the Iraq war, it doesn't mean we need to pull everyone out regardless of the big picture, regardless of the current strategy, regardless of, well, what smarter people think. No one wants mob rule even though they love to quote that they're part of a majority of Americans who are getting "ignored." If Enough Americans felt strongly about the War, then Congress would have the votes necessary for veto override. Just like if there were enough Americans who wanted to enact Kyoto-style restrictions on industry, then Congress would again have to act, no matter how lame or seemingly pointless the consequences.
