Default Moyers about Rove's Resignation

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mmwdevPRycY

Interesting commentary about how rove manipulates the entire political state of texas and the USA as a whole and has left the country in shambles. He the baser bigotry of fundamentalists to accomplish his goals (remember the gay wedding referendums on the 2004 ballot that won it for bush).

Much like monsters of the past such as hitler and stalin, this non-believer took advantage of the religious leanings of a population and used it as a tool to bend the world to their will. It sucks that religious thinking allows for this.

If the world thought as scientists do, this leverage would be hard to accomplish. If people were self aware to the point that they were simply conscious of their bigotries, they could see how they are manipulated.

But the religious in general will continue to be the fodder for the monolithic conservative war machine. One can only hope this old boys club dies out as we move into a more globalized and interconnected world.

The fundamentalist right being played like a cheap gong for the furthering of political ambitions? The reaction seems to be rather subdued with little comment from those circles.

That is because they are still... I mean still... essentially clueless about what happened and is happening to them.

I mean what did Rove get out of all of this really? I mean I guess he is invested in War Machine and Halliburton so I suppose money is the answer.

It was obvious at least to me that Bush was a complete fool. Why pick Bush? Was it to see if Rove could put one over on the people. Maybe he hates the religious folk that much, maybe he hates people that much. If there were any reason for the religious to fear Agnostics as immoral I guess they got a great example in Rove if they ever realize what he's really done.

People are not taught to think. Mind is directed in the very basics to be working members of society, Spirit is directed to God by the Church, and the body performs what the mind and spirit are conformed into. Should a person move onto higher education the idea of loyalty to church and state is the most desired concepts to be impressed. It seems to work pretty well so far. The few people that stray out of these confines of church and state are either outcast or brought back into the fold by money... hence the state. I hope I wasn't to ambiguous here. I am trying to generalize how I see it.

Rove is a very amoral human being. What he did to get Bush elected and re-elected... the Attorney General... the outing of that CIA agent... the War especially... and I have a few observations of my own that I do not wish to share on an open forum. Scary stuff!

Maybe he just wanted to see if he could make Bush win.

Four to five years ago, I'd have considered my avatar a bit over the top. After all, I was a fundamentalist christian for many years, although I didn't buy the church's political line and tried to cast my vote for the best candidate vs. the most religious one.

Because most of my family and many of my friends remain fundamentalist christians, I tried to respect their views and operate on a live-let-live basis when I became a non-believer.

Then, I began to consider the harm done to society in the name of religion (not even counting terrorism), to the point that I've become anti-religious vs. simply areligious.

There are a few religious people who think for themselves, but I'm convinced the vast majority are completely deluded by their spiritual leaders, and thoroughly manipulated by unscrupulous political tacticians like Rove. And, if I didn't fully comprehend their potential to do grave harm to society before the 2004 election, I certainly did after it; and the enusing three years have exponentially broadened that comprehension.

There were certainly powerful industry and business interests that contributed to Bush's election and re-election, but without the religious right the worst president in the history of this country would never have been put in a position to wreak the havoc that is his legacy.
