You could lurer Moofy into a discussion, but it doesn't look like she/he has much of a sense of humor

Anyone who obsesses about a fairy tale. no matter how widely accepted, engages in futility.

Hi Skept ..... so you see no value in the Genesis story?

My point lies in having an intelligent conversation , that is all. If you don't wanna talk then don't be a part of our thread.

Anyway fellas, I'll bring the ribs, and the brews.

Romansh , you wanna meet at CDA lake, their resort is pretty nice

I think that fairytale sounded just like lord of the rings when I was a child.

Basically, no. At least no more than any other fable. It's an attempt, "no matter how widely accepted", to explain the formation and evolution of the universe in a neat little package that even an imbecile could understand. Which is OK, as far as imbeciles are concerned, because they won't look deep enough beneath the surface to see the readily apparent logical disconnects.

So you don't buy in to Joseph Campbell's interpretation of religions and the myths within?

I've read Campbell pretty extensively since I was introduced to him by Bill Moyers' PBS series in 1987, and I don't recall his having claimed that any of the myths he analyzed were literally true. Rather, most of them, including the Genesis account of the creation, contain certain snippets of truth that may or not be instructive, depending on what you're looking for.
