| We Are All Sheep Sheep is not meant literally of course =).
Every "sane" human is a sheep of mankind (which cannot be avoided). We are subject to human emotions which we can not resist. If we are complemented, we feel proud. If we are insulted, we are defensive. If we are wronged, we feel angry. My arguement is that we can never truely be logical because of these emotions. We can never truely be free because we are still human.
We all enjoy certain things, we all dislike certain things. For example, most of the time when we listen to the news the stories do not effect us, yet we still have an emotion about them. If I buy something for enjoyment I can never consider myself a 'Free Thinker' because I am still a slave to human thoughts, emotions and vices.

| I don't call that being sheep. Sounds like being human. What's so wrong with our core nature? Quote: |

| You are not a slave to who you are.
You cannot be anything lower than a human being.
You cannot be anything greater than a human being.

| interesting philosophy, but i think i agree more with the view of my economics teacher: the "sheeple" are the people who do not think for themselves and let others do their thinking for them. |

| So what is so bad about sheep ??? I think that sheep are quite nice.
I sometimes think that the only reason god invented women is because sheep can't cook.

It was really stupid and un-called for and I apologize for it. Believe it or not, I am actually capable of doing much better than that. I just have to not allow my few remaining intellectual capabilties to be over-ruled by my alcohol be-sotted brain.
Thanks for your patience and understanding.
Sincerely
Tom

1) Type up this post
2) Come up with this argument
3) Wake up this morning
4) Eat some food
5) Do most anything |

| I can resist guilt and I don't have a conscience....I'm pretty sure after all the stuff I've done.
And of course we're subject to all the basic emotions, we all feel happiness, fulfillment and joy, whether or not it's often is really up to us, a person can always free their mind and lie to themselves to be happy, yeah, you can do that |

| Or, you could say, "We are all a product of our times."
Or, "we are all a product of our environment"
or, "we are nothing more than machines reacting to our environment"
or, "there is no free will"
...
I think free will exists (an assertion qualified with further assumptions), but that is a topic for another thread.
But I can also agree that we are a product of our times, it's just not a point of view that is very useful to us humans. Yes, we are sheep, but if you only think of everyone as a sheep including yourself, then why would you care enough about anything other than eating? |
