| Girl dies after parents pray instead of seek medical attention http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,341574,00.html
take a peek at this story
this girl died from a treatable illness because instead of being brought to a doctor her parents prayed for her health
my question is, should the parents be held responsible?
i say yes, they should face a penalty of jail time.
as a parent you are responsible for the well being of your children
their negligence in not helping this child with the easily available medical attention she needed is what made her not only die but apparently suffer for 30 days
what do you all think? |

| Absolutely they should be held accountable! Religion taken to extremes is almost always a bad thing, too bad it wasn't a parent that got sick and died. I better quit now or I might go off...
They are wrong about the girl dieing from diabetes, she died from stupidity.

| They should be put on trial for torture and murder. Furthermore, the church that promoted this behavior should be treated as a criminal organization running cons for money that result in murder and torture.
I also wonder how this has effected the faith of the parents. What must they be asking themselves and what do their prayers look like now? If there's no remorse for their actions, these people should be tried as first degree pre-meditated murder and the death penalty should apply. If they have remorse and where truly duped, then the 2nd degree murder statue applies (reckless disregard for human life resulting in the death of an individual).
I imagine that the 2nd degree statue applies better and at least, all people in the advisory chain up into the church should be treated to manslaughter charges. It's just like a pharmaceutical company that intentionally makes a drug that will KILL 8/10 cancer patients but cure 2/10 (i.e. the spontaneous remission rate of many cancers).

| Psalm 118:8.. look it up.
It takes religion to make otherwise kind/reasonable people to do evil things.

| Not only that, but there's this crazy chain letter/idea that goes around out there about how psalm 118:8 is the central verse of the bible LITERALLY. They claim that if you count up all the verses and divide by 2 that you end up at this verse.
Just google "center of the bible" and you'll find it. This kind of thinking is dangerous for a society. Their entire little bible study group should be tried as conspirators in the torture and murder of the young girl!
