There is about an 18% divorce rate in the U.S., as of July 2005. That means that there are 82% of people who stay married. And regardless of the divorce rate, marriage is about love. People don't meet and say, "you would be a good genetic mate." They say "I'm in love". Regardless of whether or not they actually are, or if they remain in love, that is why they get married.

Personally I don't have any issues in gay marriages and stuff, but I do have a question, why marry, why can't you be just friends, do you really wanna marry so that you can avail the government benefits?

I don't live in the U.S. and I find it funny how free speech in Canada even though it is stated does not exist, in ost countries I have every right to say queer.

Also, doesn't agnosticism believe in science moreso than anything else? Love has been proven to be a word refering to attraction caused by chemicals in the brain, a bit cold yes but that's the truth.

You're right about my " love " life, most of the women I didn't date because I was in love with them but moreso because they ere bloody hot, yes I'm an asshole what else is new.

Maximus, yeah, I had heard 50%+ too, always, but when I looked it up (I wanted an exact statistic), I couldn't find anything higher than an 18% average in the states, and 22% as the highest in one state. So I don't know...but still, if 50% get divorced, that's 50% who stay together. Don't be so glass half-empty.

hindweb-It's more than just the governmental and financial benefits. It's the significance. It's declaring, not only do we love each other and are dating, but we are official. We will not be with anyone else, and we will be together forever. We will wear rings so everyone else knows it too. And we are so happy we want to celebrate. We want everyone to share our joy. This is really important to us and we need to take another step.
