I'm wondering how similar are the Qur'an and the Bible?
Perhaps we can find similar passages in the Bible?
I don't know. Can you find any passage in the Bible where it says that a man can beat his wife? that would be some good ammo, do you have a passage and reference nimber?
No sorry
Can you find the relevant passage in the Qur'an?

I will try and find it, that is whhy I asked the question to Lector. I remember reading a passage somewhere online but it never said if women can beat the men

Yeah this is what I was refering to.

I'm not sure where you got that translation from, but it is very bad.

Islam does NOT allow that, there are very clear saying of Muhammad about that subject, that really leave no room for debate.

He said:

Narrated Mu'awiyah al-Qushayri: "I went to the Apostle of Allah (peace_be_upon_him) and asked him: What do you say (command) about our wives? He replied: Give them food what you have for yourself, and clothe them by which you clothe yourself, and do not beat them, and do not revile them. (Sunan Abu-Dawud, Book 11, Marriage (Kitab Al-Nikah), Number 2139)"

Narrated Mu'awiyah ibn Haydah: "I said: Apostle of Allah, how should we approach our wives and how should we leave them? He replied: Approach your tilth when or how you will, give her (your wife) food when you take food, clothe when you clothe yourself, do not revile her face, and do not beat her. (Sunan Abu-Dawud, Book 11, Marriage (Kitab Al-Nikah), Number 2138)"

"Do not beat the female servants of Allah";

"Some (women) visited my family complaining about their husbands (beating them). These (husbands) are not the best of you."

“How does anyone of you beat his wife as he beats the stallion camel and then he may embrace (sleep with) her?” (Al-Bukhari, English Translation, vol. 8, Hadith 68, pp. 42-43)

I'll talk about that verse in my next post, although I think it's pretty clear that Muhammad ordered Muslims NOT to beat their wives.

Sadly some people will just pretend these hadiths don't exist

So those sayings by man and not recorded in the Quran are more important or truer than the Quran? can you translate that passage 4:34 I believe it is
Thanks

So do Hadiths trump the word of God? Hadiths sound like there is room for interpretation

The surahs are the literal immutable word of God (TM) (Copyright 0617AD), they cannot be misunderstood or changed. The Hadiths are guidance and have varying authenticity.

Beatings are a last resort ,after admonishing, then banishing from the bedroom, and i mean thats really going to bring a girl into line, not having sex! Right! They will soon crack before the bloke does under that sort of pressure. But as a last resort, a light beating or tapping with a toothbrush on a place that will cause no mark is permissable.

So the next time you see a muslim chap chasing his wife around the garden lightly tapping her on the shoulder with his Colgate superswizzler, rest assured that there is no other option availible.

I tapped my wife with a pencil to get her attention, does that make me a muslim? I guess a sack full of oranges might not leave a mark

So the passage I posted was from God and cannot be misunderstood then why the Haddiths because what I posted was pretty straight forward

Are you just ignoring the posts Lecter made regarding your answer? I have a feeling nothing he says will make you think differently.
