What’s awful about Mohammed being a pedophile is the fact that early Muslims acknowledge it, which leads me to believe many early Muslims were pedophiles: It’s could have happen.

I finished reading: Muhammed: A Prophet For Our Time by Karen Armstrong and it was really captivating; I finished in one day at school because it has large print and it's not that many pages. It describes Muhammed's life with lots of scholarly citations and also of the Qu'Ran. It is a lot of fun and I will read it again soon, have you read it?

I think I may have asked this here, or at christianforums where there is a subsection for other religions, but I will reask if you can reccomend me another book on Muhammed. I am trying to purchase to two book collection by Montgomery Watts, but each book is 200 U.S. dollars! I would enjoy something unbiased like Karen's work and also something that goes greater in depth into the military campaigns Muhammed lead.

The problem Gesh, is the old one of, God who all things are perfect with, who is the "Final Judge" on what is right and wrong. God has ultimate knowlage of what is good, and if his concept of good changes then his instructions must by neccessity change too.
The practice of Arab culture at the time was arranged marrige with the happy couple being engaged from, on occassions, birth. The marrige and consumation to coincide with "Puberty" wich was marked by the first period.Even if that was at age 9.
Muslims have no problem with this, as they say " It was the culture, and needs to be looked at in that context...peace"
They avoid questioning any area of this , naturally, and so dont address these points.
1)It's not the culture now. Why not? Because modern culture can easily see that this practice is peadeophillia, and evil.It denies a girls rights, it is not free will, it is physically damaging, emotionally traumatic. With all these factors in place...its rape. There is noone of sane mind today who would say that peadeophillia or rape was ever a good thing. So why did God not mention this to his chosen messenger?The mercy and light to the world, a superior human in every way, managed to be simultaniously receiving from the one and true creator instructions on how to blow the devil out of your nostrils, whilst completly ignoring the having sex with a kid.

2) If It wasnt wrong then, and it is now, then why hasnt god sent us further instructions.(because we are too thick to work out our own society) Well he cant. No matter what advances mankind makes, no more instructions can be sent. God provided evry thing that man needed to know for all time in the Koran. So if it one day becomes obvious that lopping off the heads of prisoners of war, is a repugnant practice or indeed anything else, its just tough luck. God had demanded it and "His Good" is greater than our "Good", even though his good was merely Auditory hallucinations mixed with a powertrip of a 7th century oppotunist.
