nothing, it is just a "modern and unnecessary tradition".

I agree it is unnecessary, but now it begs the question: What is a necessary tradition?

The issue I have with christmas, and easter too, is they are no longer religious like they were originally. They are so commercialized etc. that they are more like a celebration of capitalism than a religious holiday.

Just because it's not religious doesn't mean it's pure capitalism. Christmas celebrates the spirit of giving and Easter celebrates jelly beans and chocolate bunnies.

I like Christmas although I believe "religiously" That Easter is more important because it celebrates Jesus dying and rising again to save us.. But Christmas (CHRIST-mas) Celebrates Jesus.
To me the giving presents is something we could let go, but I believe (I may be wrong) we Give on christmas becuz the wise man/men gave Jesus gifts when they came to see him.

I think giving is something we all could do a little more of. I personally love giving people things. And your friends and family aren't the only people you should be giving to. Charities make out around Christmas, and this is a good thing. If we all cared a little bit more about giving, the world would be a better place. This is what I think Christmas is about nowadays.

Laura I agree we all should give more, but i mean like the kids to a lot of kids all christmas is, is waking up early and opening gifts. To me kids get caught up in greed, and we all should give I totaly agree and i like giving to, but there should be more things explianed about christmas.

The spirit of giving message is so proliferated in the holiday season, especially to kids, that I almost get sick of it. But I don't. I think it's impossible to miss, and I don't think most kids do. Most kids love making presents for their friends and families. But, part of giving is receiving, and doesn't everyone love waking up Christmas morning?
