| Glad To Have Found This Area Hi, Jim here from the United Kingdom. It's great to have found this area - I have recently started to think about being positive and active about agnosticism. I have enjoyed reading your posts with interest. The very best to all of you.
Cheers

| What do you mean when you say 'being positive and active about agnosticism'? Did you try to hide it, or ignore it? If so, I'd say this is a great place to be.

| Hi Jaej Hi Jaej - thanks for your speedy reply. What I mean is that I think there is a perception, certainly here in the UK, that being an Agnostic is just a lazy choice for those people who can't be bothered believing in anything. I really wanted to take a more positive and active approach by being comfortable with the idea of Agnosticism and talking, listening and engaging in the subject. I wouldn't like to see Agnosticism as something wishy-washy or to be ashamed of. I haven't tried to hide it, but I think there is a temptation for some people not to engage in thinking about issues such as who are we, why are we here, what might happen next etc. Many people I know either seem to "sign up" to religion or disengage themselves with the issues, trying to blot them out.
I don't know if this answers your query, but all the best anyway and thanks for responding to my post.
Cheers

| Hi, Everyone.
Sorry if my first post was not so friendly. BTW, this is my 2nd post only and like UK Jim, am also glad to find the area.
I live in the Philippines and to give a picture on how agnosticsm or atheism appeals to most people here is like defining "heresy" in the middle ages, perhaps, at least before the burnings-at-the-stake or hangings began (I'm still alive obviously. lol!) |

| In a lot of places agnosticism is frowned on more than athiesm, because they believe in nothing. It's kind of sad, because agnostics have been some of the most influential people in the last 500 years or so.

| You are most welcome to the forum, enjoy your stay. You will really enjoy all the diversity on this forum. I'll probably PM you as I am visiting to the UK the first of June ... you can give me some tips on where to visit and where to stay away from. Looking forward to visiting your country ... Deb
