To be honest, after reading the "2 commandments" I'm not sure if this site is meant as satire or a true attempt at starting a following.
In your theory of god section you ask more questions than you giv eanswers or theory.
Could you explain more in depth? |
Hi George,
Thanks for the reply.
Regarding the domain, to be honest, i just thought agnost.net sounded better :-)
But you are right, the top level domains were originally set up for different puposes, .org or non-profit organizations, .net for network and Internet related organizations. But meanwhile there is not such a strict separation anymore , a lot of peoply use top level domains at will because they make for good puns or whatever. But I will think about it.
Yes, there is some satire in this project (that's why i called this whole thing "Church"), but basically it's meant to be a serious thing without taking things too seriously. The two commandments are in there because religious people often say that non-religious people have no moral, that they live only for their own advantage and so on. Of course this is nonsense, I guess that i adhere more to the 10 commandments than a lot of christians, but I don't have to read it in a book to know that it is not ok to kill or steal. I have my own set of rules I try to adhere to and the Two Commandments of the Church of Agnost come pretty close to that i think. And i think they work pretty well. But of course i can only talk for myself, maybe they are unsuitable for most people.
What i want to avoid is to attract those "I'm right and everyone else is wrong" kind of people and i think the Two Commandments pretty much excludes such a way of thinking (at least I hope so).
In the theory of god I explain why I think that there is a god but that this insight/opinion has nothing to do with religion. I ask two questions on that page and answer both in the very next sentence :-) But probably that's not really your point, is it?
Maybe I do not give much theory but apart from that what wrote down there I don't know much more to say. There probably is a god but we can't know anything about it. Well, thats it more or less.
Again, that section is there because often religious people think that if they "prove" that there is a god they also proved their religion to be true. Nonsense again, of course. They claim to talk about god, instead they talk about religion. The theory of god section is supposed to make the difference a bit clearer.
Again thanks for your answer and regards,
Sebastian
