Talking Greetings :)

Hi there
I've just joined this forum in hopes of chatting to people about agnotism.
I've only recently begun to thing of myself as Agnostic. Over the last 8 years of so I've gone through calling myself Wiccan, Pagan, Neo-Pagan, Spiritualist and god knows (haha) what else.
It seems the more I learn about any organised religion the less I can relate to it, which is what initially drew me into Pagan religions, but even they seem to have an heir of arrogance about them which I can't get on board with.
Arrogance is a major part of why I find religion unaccessible. People claiming to KNOW and to have the TRUTH really do come across as very arrogant, false and closed minded to me. Do other people also see this?
Which leads me back to being agnostic. I have personal ideas on spiritualism, but the important factor to me is that they are ideas. Some of my religious friends can't understand how I can be happy in the belief that I'm probably wrong, but I find that comforting. Just me? Isn't the point of a higher power, bigger than us, better than us, that we can't understand it?
So anyway, I think thats enough for now.
Hello, and here I am Rock on.

Welcome zaileia

I do agree with your view on the arrogance of believers, but in all fairness I have to say that I feel the same way about atheists who just want to believe that we humans are just supreme beings and there is no possible way there could be a higher intelligence than us. I humbly accept that I don't know either way but resolve to just live my life the best way I can while I can whether there is a heaven or not.

Again welcome and we look forward to your point of view on the many topics here.

Welcome Zaileia,

I pretty much, well, I DO agree with George and you in that we don't know.
Period. Fundamentalists don't know and Atheists don't know (the truth). And I am like you in that I find it "comforting" that "I'm probably wrong". But I feel that holding this view opens up so many more possibilities and shows me that human beings are not the evil creations that some tell us we are.

Welcome,

Gringo

Welcome!

Have you looked into Naturalistic Paganism by chance? They incorporate elements of Paganism but leave out the supernaturalism. For example, a Naturalistic Pagan might do something like celebrate the Sabbats and use some of the symbolism, but won’t believe in literal Gods and Goddesses. If you’re Agnostic but find Paganism appealing, this might be something for you to look into.
