I have browsed this forum on occasions, but just now decided to join.

I was raised in a christian family, in which the extremity of our actual practice of the religion constantly fluctuated. If that makes sense. Basically, throughout the years, my family has had on-off dedication to church and religious morals/practices and whatnot. I was always a complicated, different child though. God, christianity, and the bible were huge burdens on my back. I felt like I always had to live up to the standards of something that I wasn't sure existed, or I would go to hell.

My actual conversion from christian to agnostic is a very long story, so lets just say it involved a lot of research, and finding out that I was a lesbian.

My change in beliefs has lifted an elephantine burden off of my back.

I didn't mean to make my introduction as long as this, but hell, I'm a writer, I make everything I write complicated.

Congrats on your "unburdening" (also known as "enlightenment")! Many here know exactly what that means and the relief felt by it. Not that it makes a difference but just curious, what kind of agnostic conclusions have you come up with in your research so far? Do you lean toward a non-religious belief in a higher power or are you still uncertain and waiting for proof?

Whew! Now doesn't that feel good?! You've accomplished, at what I perceive to be a relatively young age, what it took me many more years to achieve, i.e., honesty and authenticity about what I am and what I believe.

It matters a lot less what absolute positions or affiliations such an epiphany results in. The important thing is that you've experienced it, and your life will be forever different . . . and a whole lot better!
