To the new member, welcome and hello | Here we go again. What is it that you find so objectionable about point-counterpoint? Is there some rule that says we all have to play nice in introductions and greetings and then take the gloves off later?
If so, then I guess I'll just have to go against your nice little rules when I find something worth commenting on. In the meantime, please forgive my lack of political correctness as defined by . . . you?

And it's not even really involving the new member. It's just rude. It's just annoying to always see every damned into thread run amock with bickering. INTRODUCTION.. do we need to go over this again? It's the hello and welcome section. It's kind of obvious. But whatever.

It's the hello and welcome section. It's kind of obvious. But whatever. | You've apparently not noticed that some very interesting discussions happen in the Intro section. You've also apparently lost sight of the fact that people don't seek out and become members of an agnostic forum for warms and fuzzies. They come here to test their ideas and get the benefit of point-counter-point from others who have crossed some of the same bridges they have.
I suppose it doesn't hurt anything if they get some initial warms and fuzzies, and I'm not against playing nice. Just not nice enough to get the Geshti Award for Appropriate Internet Behavior I guess. When that becomes important to me, you'll be the first to know.
In the meantime, can you please define "fing'?

| I am not allowed to cuss. F as in suck but with an F. I am aware that some good stuff happens in the intro thread. As for warm and fuzzies? Are you actually gonna sit there and argue with me about just being polite and saying hello to new members? I mean it's kind of low to actually want to defend being rude. I can't actually believe you want to argue with me against just saying WELCOME AND HELLO. It's not warm and fuzzy. It's the normal adult sane thing to do. Jesus Christ Skept. I don't know how you made it so old and yet be such a dumb ass.

| Skept Gesh ..I just love you!!!! but you do know it's all about power, ego, and being in some one's face for Skept there is nothing in his repertoire of words that resembles tact. He loves to come on strong and just keep going for the throat .... intros are not a thread for attacks but one of introduction and "welcome to the fold". We say our "warm and fuzzy hello's" in the intro's and then once they get into a thread of their choice then it's game on.
You are just rude to the new people. Many of the newbies coming on here have done so with some trepidation and rather than welcome them you work your gestalt methods of them. It's nice to have fresh blood in this forum, new views and such ... your ways don't encourage them to stay and chat ... ugh! You have issues dude!

| Since when did this become a forum in internet manners? Will you self-appointed arbiters of what's OK on this forum give it a break?
You're trying to teach me some kind of object lesson about being rude and you call me a "dumb ass" who is devoid of what you define as "tact".
I guess that's your prerogative, but it has nothing to do with the reason I thought we were here, which is to consider issues having at least some connection to agnosticism, many of which are bound to impinge on strongly-held beliefs.
I freely admit to being passionate about my beliefs, so I'm prone to state them strongly. I'm also passionate about my participation in an open forum where my beliefs can be challenged.
If the point-counter-point that's, by definition, involved in such exchanges offends your sensibilities, I suggest you find a more genteel forum . . . maybe sharing recipes or sewing tips.

| Skept I admire you being passionate in your beliefs etc. I totally get it. In all seriousness though. Can't you just act like a sane adult and say hello and welcome? Can you just let someone introduce themselves? Do you just run into random people on the street and they say hello and you rip them a new a hole? No. You'd get a beat down in a heart beat. Stop defending your rude behavior in an intro thread. Even first graders learn how to say hello. So no. We won't give it up. You choose an action( being a total a hole to new members in their intro thread) you get the consequence (me being a total bitch to you) It seems fair. I guess I am passionate about teaching you some damned manners.
