This is not a greeting or introduction it is a good bye. I use to enjoy all the debates with some of the very intelligent posters on here. Lately though most of my debates have just seemed like straight up arguing which is not what i came here for. But before i go I need to think all of the theist posters for making me more atheist by your lack of grip on reality.

I sympathize. I'm easily drawn into argument and its probably not a healthy habit. I could see how it could get to someone after a while. The only thing that bothers me is not so much the arguing, but the arguing of the same thing over and over. I don't mind Christians who actually want to openly and intelligently discuss, but many Christians who visit here aren't interested in that.

On another forum I belong to, many of the prosyletizing Christians would get banned after a few posts. That forum makes open and intelligent discussion a requirement no matter what your beliefs are. There is no reason why Christians can't discuss without prosyletizing. In fact, there are Christians on this forum whom I enjoy talking with more than with some agnostics.

Is there another forum you plan on posting on? Are you looking around? Or are you taking a break from forums in general?

You should never give up. Even if you cannot find suitable religious people to have conversation with, you can at least enjoy the company of fellow non-believers until you can find a suitable religious person to debate.

I'm also sorry to see you go. You're point about the arguing is well-taken, but I don't think it's so much the arguing as the name-calling, of which I have to admit to less than complete innocence.

I agree that some discussions with religious posters are interesting because a few seem to have retained the ability to reason logically. But the overwhelming majority have no need of, or interest in, logic. All that is required is to believe; and faith and logic are mutually exclusive propositions.

Sometimes the battle with others can help you win against yourself. I can say I was baptized by fire in some aspects because I had a nut bag uncle preach at me before I knew any better. Now that I have had the chance to learn for myself I know he was off his rocker.
