Visiting from the MBTI world Hello everyone!
(There isn't a single waving emoticon available... what's up with that?)
I haven't looked around too much yet, but I hope this place will be interesting.
I'm here because I was having a discussion about the historical evidence of Christianity at another forum. I was looking around at forums where similar discussions were happening. I checked out the Dawkins forum and its nice, but I don't think of myself as atheist. I prefer a more agnostic perspective.
I am a very spiritual person, but my sense of the spiritual is very open-ended. Panentheism and Non-dualism are two terms I like to use to describe my ideas about reality. I'm more of a person who likes to question and think about anything that catches my curiosity without much need for conclusion. I generally don't feel a strong need to claim anything in particular nor deny anything in particular. I'd probably be happier, though, if I came to more specific conclusions about life.
I don't enjoy having discussions with people who have extremely strong opinions(whether theist, atheist, or whatever). But other people's beliefs don't usuallly bother me except when the person is vocally opinonated. I don't mind heated debates as long as the people are somewhat open-minded and rational. I often look for a middle ground where I can agree with at least some of what another person believes.
I do have some strong opinions that I'll stick to in a discussion, but I prefer to explore all sides of an issue. The positions I take are the ones that can include the most perspectives possible without them conflicting. So, for example, I'm a spiritual agnostic... a very broad label. I don't take labels too seriously except when someone else takes their own labels seriously. It doesn't matter what someone calls themselves, but it does matter what someone believes... and how that effects what they say and do.
I first became interested in forums through Jungian typology(MBTI). I'm an INFP, but I seem to be more obsessively intellectual than many INFPs. My main forum is an INFP forum(globalchatter). I'm interested in other forums like this one because I'd like to get into some more serious discussions.
My interests are many: all things Jungian, psychology in general, some theology and philosophy, mysticism and spiritual practice, mythology, astrotheology, Gnosticism and early Christianity, and SF fiction. I don't generally get into discussions about politics, but I have no rule about not discussing it.
See ya in the forums. |
