you'll have the militant muslims on you next lol ... sounds like you'd be a candidate for the church Og got ordained in .... it's one of those live and let live, anything goes kind of religion.

Jeez, it's been a while.

I'm no longer muslim. I reached my conclusion some time ago, but it's taken months before I could admit it to myself. There were numerous reasons but I think the dealbreaker was the absolute strength and certainty of religion's claims.

Hi Prob

You don't say 'what' you are now ... but that's OK.
Being just you, that's not an unwise place to be. ...

all the best

Great, we've got a Christian historian in PsiCop and now an ex-Muslim to help with that religion, we're becoming better and better armed everyday. I thought that the Muslims executed anyone who tried to leave their ranks, ala mafia style, you are a brave soul. Kidding aside, welcome to the agnostic forum!

Cheers roman. What I am? I think non-religious is the best term to describe my stance. IMO, labels of agnostic, atheist, pantheist etc are all semantics. Whether a god exists or not is irrelevant to how we live our lives so long as we all agree that religion is falsehood.

They do actually! Luckily, western society has somewhat dampened this practice.

I dont plan on ever telling my parents though. It'll break my mother's heart. I couldnt bring myself to do that. I thik it would be best if I left my hometown once I finish up with college though. It'll make things a lot easier for me.

Congratulations for your strength, and I wish you the best on this quest of leaving Islam.
May God or something else that exists if exists, be with you on that hard journey.

I think you have the right of it .... no need to tell your parents .... it's not being hypocritical it's being practical .... telling your parents about that is on the same level of coming out of the closet on your sexuality .... I think my parents would rather hear that I was a lesbian (I'm hetero) than I was a non believer .... weird but true! Living your life .... for lack of a better word .. "correctly and kindly" is more of value than what religion you embrace. Once again ... I wait before I divulged any information to your parents .... less hassle for you ...
