Default Theists- question about heaven

I was just curious, if there was a God and there was no heaven or hell, would you still worship? What if when you die, that's it? Would you still pray or go to church, temple etc? Would you even bother once heaven is taken out of the equation? Do you think you would still feel the same about your creator if you weren't rewarded in the end and that that no matter what you did it didn't really matter in God's eyes?

See this is kind of what I was thinking because my boss was always like you have to follow the bible or you wont get into heaven and Ive always wanted to ask her that.

I could not imagine having to deal with a religious zealot for a boss. That would drive me to the point of not keeping my big fat mouth shut.

see ive gotten into a few arguments with her and she is so closed minded on the subject that she doesn't even really listen. So i just avoid the topic of religion with her. I don't want to hear her preach to me. She is what i refer to as a blind follower the bible says it it has to be true.

Well then Duck you would definitely go crazy where I work. I work in a small office(just 2 of us) and my new coworker is extremely religious even though she says she's not. She carries 2 bibles with her, 3 prayer books and listens to sermons(just like being at church) and christian music ALL day long. She even writes letters to God and you know those little post it notes?Psalms and verses all over her desk. I can't even get in the company truck without being greeted by God. It really, really bothered me at first but I'm adjusting and luckily if I have my radio on at my desk I can't hear hers. She's very nice but geesh it's like she must be surrounded by God 24 hours a day.

Back to my question, any theists have any input?

If you accept prayer as a form of worship, then I think the answer is yes.

I notice most prayers are related to this life not the afterlife.

- Thank you for this food.
- Please protect us on our journey.
- Please save us from the weather.
- Please make Uncle Bill well.
- Please guide me in making this decision.

Theists seem to have plenty of reasons to pray that are irrelevant to the afterlife.

Praying is one thing. I was more curious about how you would feel as a whole. Would you still go to church, temple etc. every week? Would you still donate money? Would you still take the bible literally? Would you still live your life doing what you feel God expects you to do? Basically, if there was no heaven or hell but God did exist and you could do whatever you wanted without any consequences or rewards from God except his love, would you still live your life just as you do now?

Yeah, for an eternal paradise theists sure don't have a very good idea of what they're in for.
