You can believe whatever you want, but there is always the possibility that you are wrong.

I made that comment in the spirit of you being rather flexible with your beliefs in regards to others. Not insult was intended in any way whatsoever.

Most of those who believe as much as you do, don't say "I'm more than certain that I am right." They KNOW. They believe and cannot begin to understand those that have the temerity to question.

Once again, of all the believers that post here, I actually have a great deal of respect for you. More than most.
Ohh i know. I did not take any offence to it. Sorry if I seemed that way.

There have been times when I believed something and then later on in life, after I had grown into my own person and had the chance to study the topic, my belief changed. Maybe not to the complete opposite, but it did change. What eirks (not sure if I spelled that right) me is when those that have the complete opposite view of me get mad and say nasty things because I don't believe the way they do. They want me to be open minded and be willing to change my views, yet they themselves are not willing to even consider changing theirs. That is a double standard. If you are going to say that everyone else is wrong, then you better be God yourself, because anyone less than God cannot know for sure. Claiming to be agnostic means that you don't know and are open to the evidence, or at least that is the way I interpret it, and it seems like I remember reading something like that in the forum dedicated to the meaning of agnosticism.

Thank you as well for the respect as it is mutual. Everytime you and I have talked (as well as with a few others) it has been pleasant and fun. Some others on these forums, I cannot say that about.

It seems to me that the biblical God actually does rule by fear.

"and it shall be, if thou do at all forget the Lord thy God, and walk after other gods, and serve them, and worship them, i testify against you this day that ye shall surely perish." Deut. 8:19

"be not wise in thine own eyes: fear the lord and depart from evil." prov. 3:7

"fear ye not me? saith the lord: will ye not tremble at my presence, which have placed the sand for the bound of the sea by a perpetual decree, that it cannot pass it." Jer. 5:23

"say unto God, how terrible art thou in thine works! through the greatness of thin power sall thine enemies submit themselves unto thee." psalm 66:3

"wherefore i was grieved with that generation, and said, they do always err in their heart; and they have not known my ways. so i swear in my wrath, they shall not enter into my rest." Heb. 3:10

"ye shall walk after the lord your God, and fear him, and keep his commandments, and obey his voice, and ye shall serve him, and cleave unto him." Deut. 13:4

No, he just zaps you at the end. Why should someone have to be forgiven, cleansed, saved or made holy? It's only for God and that alone shows that his love in NOT unconditional.
