We are all human. How can a saint be any 'greater' than one of his/her fellow humans?

Unless perhaps it is to perpetuate the power of the church over the uneducated masses through the establishment of a pseudo 'idol' status for really, really, really good little catholics.....?

i think you've got it right danlo. we should have our own saints ... how about saint Einstein, saint Hawkins, saint Paine, etc.

I'd also nominate David Suzuki (Canadian environmentalist & scientist) and Michael Moore (American film maker)
