Default Was Nora Lam divinely rescued?

I read that Nora Lam, formerly Sung Neng Yee, the woman who's escape from communist China is depicted in China Cry, quoted Psalm 23 when she was about to be shot, and a storm occured when she was about to be shot. She collapsed but survived. She later learned that a blinding light had stopped them from firing again and that their guns had pointed upward. Do you think she was saved by divine intervention?

This story reminds me of what allegedly happened to the Japanese monk Nichiren:

Quote:
...On [September 12, 1271], Hei no Saemon and a group of soldiers abducted Nichiren from his hut at Matsubagayatsu, Kamakura. Their intent was to arrest and summarily behead him; but, according to legend, some sort of astronomical phenomena—a great flash of light—over the seaside Tatsunokuchi execution grounds terrified Nichiren's executioners into inaction.
From here.

Yes, it is similar. Do you know if there is any evidence of eithier of these stories?

No corroborating evidence for either one, sorry.

I do find it interesting that both of these alleged events happened in the Orient, and that the rescued people had radically different religious views. I wonder if there are extraterrestrials with a wicked sense of humour observing the area and occasionally stopping executions.

Or dragons.

Aw, heck... "I'll take 'extraterrestrial dragons' for $200, Alex."

Don't be sorry. Just to clarify though, do you just mean there is no corroborating evidence you know of, or that you are fairly sure there is no corroborating evidence in existance? I've searched the net trying to find out if there is any evidence for Lam's story, but I found very few websites that mentioned her except in the context of a synopsis of the film. I found a website talking about someone who doubted the film and implying he was right, but I don't know if that website or the person they talk about can be trusted.

Also, Astreja, did you ever hear of Nora Lam before this?

No corroborating evidence that I know of, and this thread marks the first time I've heard of Nora Lam.

In examining a few links found via Google, there seems to be an awful lot of internecine squabbling in regards to her story. The whole thing could easily be a myth concocted to boost her ministry.

Do you remember what some of these links were?

Well, here's one:
Quote:
According to the January 14, 1991 Christianity Today, the National Association of Evangelicals turned down Lam's ministry application for membership in 1989, and in 1977 the Assemblies of God warned its ministers that "Nora Lam is not endorsed" by its Division of Foreign Missions and is not recommended as a speaker at church services.
From here.
