I agree. In general, that is just human nature.

But I have my doubts that most Christian literalists are more open to seeking Truth than are other people. I could be wrong, but I'd suspect that non-literalists are more open... seemingly by definition. I do recall that you don't go claim a strict literal interpretation, and you're more open to discussion than many Christians who visit here.

There is a Movie call "Contact". At the end the Dr got to ride the machine and take a trip to a Galaxy beyond ours and visit with E.T. life. Due to the mechanics of that velocity of travel it appeared that she never left. Yet she developed several hours worth of memory of events that transpired. She was not able to prove what she saw on her journey to anyone. Much the same way a person of Faith can see and experience yet have no way to communicate their experience in a meaningful and provable way to others.
Yeah, that is the dilemma...
...one that I know through my own experiences.

Are you so afraid of being wrong that you can't assert yourself? The mark of a great mind (and leader) is the ability to assert itself in uncertainty. The mark of a greater mind is the ability to accept being wrong. The greatest mind can learn from error and correct it.
Yes, I'm very much filled with fear and much else for that matter. I do assert myself on occasion, but it depends. I can accept being wrong fairly well most of the time. But the acceptance of being wrong is a separate issue from declaring oneself to be absolutely right. Even so, its not as if I lack an ability to voice my opinions... as you have observed in this thread.

I wouldn't mind being a great mind, but I won't make that claim. I'm good at some things and I suck at other things. As for my mind, its better than average in certain respects.

Certainly. I start threads all of the time. Feel free to speak your piece anytime.

I don't think you are wrong.

I am glad you understand.

No one is absolutely right... and I say that in a grand sense. People can be absolutely right regarding somethings but not all things. I always do my best to not be wrong. But I make mistakes just like all others. Often times my message is lost in the translation because people are focused on Title rather than my message. Current day politics are quite a fine example of that. There are lots of hard core party liners. People vote for someone just because Republican or Democrat is in their name. Nothing different than the rest of the organized religion churches... blind sheep trotting off to their destruction.

Realizing your limits is the start to being a great mind. Because if you can see your own limitations you know how to either fix it or stay away from the arena in which you should not be involved with. A great mind knows when to speak, and when to listen.

Yea... I am pretty bullish, but I try to keep out of too many threads at once. It gets difficult keeping track of things...
