As I said before, when I posted this article about Apollo I was being somewhat factious. I merely point to the foolishness that exists in warring over the names of the god we choose to kill for. What I said about Apollo’s effect on both Socrates and the western philosophy is true. I just made a point that it is at least true and provable, whereas other gods can’t claim such easily traceable direct results. Not even mine, which is not Apollo.
Personally I like the aspects of sex expressed in the ‘old gods’. It’s a lot better than us living in a nation that is so pent up in it’s sexual mores that the only sex ‘approved’, is guided by idiotic religious leaders that try to subvert the sexual drives of human nature into some sort of box of sins; of course not always applying the same rules to themselves. |
But thats exactly my point regardles of the Greeks defending for Gods, i dont know where you get killing from because in given time line has not attacked a barbarian as they would call them ( foriegners).
The sexual expression is much different in the sexual expression we percieve today.
There are enigma the Greeks mythology which is excatly why therre have been so many mis judgements.
The Oracle was a fine example time and time again of how man never realy understood what she was on about, it wa sonly revealed by mans action that led to his misfortune because we always or generaly make the wrong decision.
What i ment about the notion of Apollo was the meaning of him the symbol.
It is true even the ancients could not understand the pre socratic enegmatic wisdoms, which eventualy led to Greece's downfall, but soem will argue that is still continued too long after Alexander....this is not true, by this time the know world was Hellenized in wisdom, but knowledge was being use dthe wrong way. It is a very long story but you cannot compare the attitudes of the ancients when it comes to God/s with todays blind faith.
