Im athiest, but am very open minded, if someone showed me proof of something, or even put up an argument which was better than mine i could persuaded to change my mind.

I listened to the sounds, while meditating, I did it seriously and open minded, and genuinely wanted to "feel" God, as you say, because there was nothing stopping me thinking that wouldnt work.

The effects were that I felt very calm and tranquil and was happy to relax away from my hectic life for a couple of minutes. But I felt nothing else, no god, no ethreal presence, nothing.

sorry for restarting this post but it took my interest has i had a lecture about similar yesterday and im still trying to sort out the information in my head(the joy of consciousness and transpersonal psychology!)many people believe in a thing called a mystic experience and many psychologists have tried to categorise exactly what counts as one.one of the main factors of this is that her is a sense of connection to some thing Real so what is being here discribed as "experiencing God" here could be classed as something else, for example having a deeper connection to nature and feeling at one with it.
im sorry if this doesnt make sense i think ive got myself confused byt yeah....
