funny that they mention money in terms of dollars instead of pounds considering they both were or had brittish accents. This reminded me of a short story in HS with the same story, he ended up pushing the button and taking the money, but he was still alive and the person he ended up killing was his wife.

The irony in this piece is very powerful. He presents the cold hard nature of natural selection on the serengheti as an ideal environment to find a filter for weakness and you're supposed to think of this as some horrific and unfeeling environment that you don't want to be part of.

At the same time, he's applying a mental selective pressure to the human mind and creating a heaven that is equivalent to the environment of the serengheti.
