I would guess that they mean that Christianity, like nearly every other religion, borrowed ideas from other religions. No religion is truly unique. It's almost as if people just keep revising what they don't like about a current religion to found a new one.
Thats exactly what I am saying.

A prominent Japanese scholar has stated that while Japan was his motherland, it was India that he considered to be his fatherland.

Similarly you can say that while Palestine was Jesus's motherland, it was India that was his fatherland.

Socrates was born and died in Athens. What do you make of Socrates?

Greek Philosophy: Socrates

Is he no influence of Christianity?

I am a big fan of Socrates, and his exhortations on logical thinking, and nobility and courage has influenced me a lot.

Though I don't know of Socrates influence on Christianity, I do hope that the Christian fundamentalists, and the fundamentalists of all religions will study Socrates and temper their beliefs with reason and logic.

Just to know, in what way has Egyptian ideas influenced Christ.

I am not denying Egypts influence on Christ, because I dont know anything about that, and hence I cannot make any statements regarding that.

Thanking you,

Niranjan.

Egypt worshipped the god Horus and Osiris. That actually came from Ethiopia, but really developed and was refined in Egypt. Here are a few similarities without going to in depth:
1. Horus had a virgin mother and was brought forth singly as one of five brothers=Jesus had the same.
2. Horus was the son of Seb, his father on Earth=Jesus had an Earthly father, Joseph.
3. Horus was with his mother until 12 when he was transformed into the beloved son of God and his only begotton son=Jesus was with his mother until 12 when he decided to "Go about his father's business."
4. From 12 to 30 there is no record of Horus=Jesus had the same.
5. Horus, by the age of 30 became an adult and was baptized by Anup=Jesus was 30 when John the Baptist did his thing.
6. Horus in his baptism made another transformation into the beloved son of god and the Spirit of God was represented by a dove.
7. ALso, Iusa was immaculately concieved, tempted, glorified on the mount, persecuted, arrested, tried, condemned, crucified, buried, resurrected, ascended, and Egypt had listened to the Sermon on the Mount and the sayings of Iusa for ages.

Yeah, I can see the similarities. But are there similarities between the teachings of Horus and Jesus. Also is Horus Iusa, (whom you quoted last) or are they two different personalities?

I just now checked on wikipedia on Horus. The similarities you mentioned are there, but the dissimilarities are also extensive and numerous .

There are always going to be dissimilarities, and as each tribe adapts and assimilates different cultures the stories change a little. Most of what we see in all of those faiths find there genesis in the Vegetation gods, and that is mingled with the Cosmological god. Yes, they were different personalities. BTW, Wikipedia is good, but it can not replace a book for accuracy.
