Default kaballah fashion

What about kaballah and its modern adaptation adopted by celebrities nowadays? What do you think of all that? Does it get you interested?

I think the concept of a 'high-fashion' spiritual path is just silly. I can't imagine chosing a belief system based on what famous people do. If you actually agree with it, fine.

I lived in LA in the early 80's when New Age spiritualism was big in Hollywood. Generated a lot of commerce. Garnered a lot of attention because celebrities talk in a national forum. And if they say something off the beaten path, it gets played up because its different. That's what draws viewers/readers to the media, so they highlight that stuff.

LOL. Ive wondered on this as well. I cant grasp making a religion a trendy thing and it does bother me when you hear about "handlers" from the religions that watch the celebrities like body guards lol.

It's a fad. Like so many other celebrity fads, this too shall pass.

I think it's just a way for them to justify their narcissism. Here's a religion that says we can be shallow and self-serving like we are, yet look like we're spiritual and good. The version practiced by the celebrities is a crock. (Since I know nothing about the non-celebrity version of Kaballah.)

I know I shouldn't judge stuff like this, but when I saw Madonna touting Kaballah I immediately thought it must be a crackpot religion. Really, remember that awards show on TV with Madonna kissing Britney and Christina (and her daughter was watching in the audience)? Was Madonna practicing Kaballah when she pulled that tacky stunt?

I honestly think people like Madonna should stay out of religion, or at the very least have more respect for it. How many times has she moved from one religion to another and made it a public announcement?

Religion, or lack of, should be a reflection of who you are and who you are not. It should never be a banner to be touted for the world to see. I think she is doing it for the costumes, I don't buy it, all publicity.

The people who honestly practice these religions do so with humility and pride unlike the celebrities who have to make it front page news by doing something dramatic to get attention in the name of it.

I sometimes think that celebrities grasping onto (and loudly and publicly praising) a particular branch of religion belies a deeper spiritual emptiness that they are desperately trying to fill. If you belong, say, to the kaballah faith or Scientology, why must you make a big public hairy deal of it? Are you looking for affirmation from others who might decide to follow your faith just because you (their favorite celebrity) is now embracing it? Are you trying to polish your public image by proclaiming your faith in a religion, even if that faith is new-found and quite possibly questionable? So many other celebrities don't openly profess their religious beliefs that it makes me wonder why this select few feel they have to take upon themselves to prostrate themselves on a public altar?
