| Christmas is NOT a Christian holiday anymore Do you agree or disagree?
I agree, because I know muslim, jew and chinese families practicing Christmas. The "spirit of Chistmas" is to bring joy and give presents nowadays. Nobody looks at it as a religious holiday. It's not just Chirstian anymore.

| Christmas has very little to do with Christianity, it never did. There is nothing particularly Christian about our Christmas traditions. Christmas trees, Santa Clause, and Christmas lights are more Pagan than Christian. Not to mention the fact that the births of many Pagan godmen were celebrated around the time of the Winter Solstice. Christianity’s holidays are Pagan holidays, thinly veiled. |

| Weird I never made that connection between the traditions and the pagan stuff, I was always told that Santa Claus was based on Jesus or something bogus like that, either way it doesnt matter to me. I don't think of christmas as pagan or christian

| Hi everyone, first post here. This post caught my eye and brought me here. My wife and I are both atheists and we're doing our best to raise our kids to be critical thinkers so they can make their own decisions about religion when they're old enough. Christmas has always been a purely secular celebration at our house, but now that the kids are old enough they're starting to ask questions about the history of Christmas and why other religions/cultures celebrate in different ways. We started talking to them about the various Winter Solstice celebrations and eventually used this book during a family discussion about why people celebrate during this time of year how we should celebrate as a family. The book is called The Winter Solstice
Once they realized there are a whole slew of other reasons besides Santa Clause or Jesus, they really got into it. I'm really looking forward to the season this year.

| i beleive that it is both a secular and religious holiday, as it is still practiced by christians in order to celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ.

The Christians took over a pagan holiday and claimed it for Jesus.
