This statement could imply that the death of the Templars was the reason the Christians were defeated. If I remember correctly, The Templars were disposed of because they were inconvenient (too powerful, had too much money, etc.) The “Holy Land” was already lost to the Christians.

Could you clarify what you mean by this? Based on what standard?

I completely disagree. Christianity (through its churches) has a lot of influence and power over what should be secular.

So I was thinking…some of my responses could be seen as negative, and that isn’t fair, nor what I meant. They were meant more as constructive criticism. You have a good start and provided a good jumping off point for comparative religion discussions. It was also a good idea to write a basic introduction to the major world religions, especially for those who do are not aware of what these religions teach. Thank you for doing so.

My apologies if my posts seemed negative in any way.

I actually appreciate the criticism Faydwyn. I am still editing my articles so I am trying to fix everything and this really really helps! =D

Oh good. It’s harder to tell how something will come across online.

I’m in the process of doing a survey of religions and spiritualities, then deciding which ones to study in more depth. So if you need some resources, I might have some that could be helpful.

Default Comparative Religion

Good Morning,

I was wondering if anyone might know of an online unviersity or school that offers a program in Comparative Religions. I have a great interest in this and would definitely enjoy studying it in the comfort of my home. I would like to see the differences between the great religions, aside from faith.

Thanks

Gringo

Wow that was a good information, i do not believe in religion but it is good to know. one thing that makes me not believe in religion is that every religion says that their religious belief is the only trute belief and everything else is wrong and who ever do not believe in that particular religon will go to hell, that mean everyone is going to hell. So i think agnostic are the only ones who are not going to hell coz we do not believe in anything hehehe

Yea we're going to the LIMBO!Unless all religions are correct, then we go to either heaven or hell depending on our sins.

Actually, not all religions have a concept of hell or their concept is very different from the Abrahamic one. Also, Hinduism, for example, is much more inclusive and tolerant than, say, Christianity.

In regards to my Buddhism post, I wanted to add a caveat about Zen. It is uniquely Japanese, but it was derived from a school of Chinese Buddhism called Ch’an.

Oh, and I left out the Noble part of the Noble Eightfold Path.
