You are confusing definitions. I have a very powerful view of religion and consider myself to be a priest of the true religion of humanity that is embraced by all and practiced by all and the language of the priesthood is universal across all cultures.
You are speaking of a dogma which is manipulated to control minds. If you want to call that religion, that is fine, and most people do. But that is an example of PEOPLE being bad, not religion being bad.
"Steel is not strong, boy... flesh is stronger.. for what is steel next to the hand that wields it?" -Thulsa Doom, Conan the Barbarian
What is abuse is the notion that there is a valid answer they should be given which is based entirely on superstition and ignorance as opposed to observation.
The Theory of Evolution is entirely an expression of observation. Providing the notion that some dogmatically sourced idea with no empirical support (other than the readings of some tea leaves and palms) is a valid option that should be considered is to stunt the minds of children. This puts for the notion that "faith is a virtue" which ONLY closes minds and makes them supple for control by an organized group ideology.
That is the abuse. Religion means "linking back" as per joseph campbell (re = back as in reply and renew, ligio = linking as in ligament and ligand). Re-ligio = linking back.
Your particular kind of religion, when it steps into schools and tries to ride on the coat tails of valid science, is child abuse when hoisted upon children in an environment such as the classroom where they tend to be presented with authorities at a young age in order to adapt them to the world around them.
Your "hand waving" evidence about how "all of everything proves the existence of allah" is hogwash. It's mysticism and it closes minds by giving them this horrific notion that belief should be inversely proportional to evidence" as a virtue is just flat out WRONG to be feeding our children.
